‘Wicked’ Dolls: Mattel Mistakenly Includes Link to Adult Porn Site on Packaging

As a longtime fan of musicals and collector of merchandise, I must say this unfortunate incident with Mattel‘s Wicked character dolls has left me quite dismayed. It’s not every day that one expects to open a box containing a beloved character only to find themselves navigating an adult entertainment site instead!

Oh man, I was so hyped to get my hands on some Wicked movie merchandise! But boy, did things go south real quick. On Sunday, it turned out that the website link on the packaging for those cool character dolls led straight to an adult pornographic site instead. Talk about a nightmare for Mattel! I can’t even imagine how they’re going to handle this one.

Reports indicate that Mattel is accountable for the error. By late Sunday afternoon, these dolls were no longer accessible for purchase at Target, one of the primary retail collaborators for the Universal movie. It remained unclear if the identical web address was featured on Mattel packaging for _Wicked_ merchandise and toys being offered by other vendors.

Mattel didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The movie “Wicked” is set to premiere in cinemas on November 22, and it’s expected to be quite profitable. This film version of the well-known Broadway musical, directed by Jon M. Chu, boasts a star-studded cast headlined by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Among the dolls being incorrectly labeled with the wrong address, you’ll find Glinda, portrayed by Grande, and Elphaba, played by Erivo.

The website mentioned on the doll boxes is wicked.com, not wickedmovie.com. Clicking on this link leads to a page that demands users be at least 18 years old. Those who proceed are directed to an adult entertainment site advertising an upcoming pornographic film called “Kenzie Loves Girls 2“, which is produced by Wicked Pictures, a venture in the adult industry.

More to come.
