Will Celebrity Big Brother Return After Latest Controversial Season? The Producers Respond

As a die-hard fan with over a decade of Big Brother fandom under my belt, I must say that the potential return of Celebrity Big Brother in 2026 has me buzzing like a houseguest on power of veto day! The thrill of watching celebrities navigate the Big Brother house is unparalleled, and the prospect of another season has me counting down the days (okay, years) until it airs.

It’s been two years since the last episode of “Celebrity Big Brother” aired, and given the uneasy and contentious finale as well as other scandals, it wouldn’t be surprising for fans to assume it wasn’t coming back. However, until now, we didn’t know if or when this spinoff of the CBS reality show would reappear on our TV schedules in 2025. But thanks to executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan, we finally have some idea about its potential return date.

Representatives of Celebrity Big Brother, basking in the enthusiasm from fans who adored season 26 of Big Brother, recently discussed with Entertainment Weekly possible timelines for the show’s return on TV as Season 4. While neither executive could provide a specific date for CBS potentially renewing the series, Allison Grodner hinted at a potential timeframe:

Viewing the situation, it’s worth noting that historically, Celebrity Big Brother has often aired during the same time as the Winter Olympics, although it’s important to clarify that we can’t confirm this for CBS specifically.

Although Celebrity Big Brother aired one season independently from the Winter Olympics, it’s important to note that two out of three seasons were intentionally scheduled as an alternative to the event. Given this pattern, there’s a chance CBS might plan another season of CBB in February 2026. Therefore, fans who are disappointed about the cancellation of Reindeer Games in 2024 could potentially look forward to this alternative Big Brother spinoff.

It’s comforting to learn, regardless of the circumstances, given that Celebrity Big Brother Season 3 left me questioning if CBS thought it wasn’t worth the effort. The live feeds were delayed after the show commenced, sparking rumors among housemates about a conflict between contestants. Furthermore, there was an excessive amount of pettiness displayed by the cast in response to Todrick Hall discussing them privately, which could lead one to believe that other celebrities might not be interested in participating in future seasons due to such behavior.

Rich Meehan chose not to respond to those points specifically, instead reiterating that the matter essentially boils down to CBS.

Absolutely! We’re keen on the idea, but there are various factors at play such as scheduling and available airtime. Other significant elements, beyond Big Brother, also influence our decisions regarding scripted shows. However, we always enjoy doing it, and it’s something we look forward to potentially repeating. But patience is key; we need to wait and see how the overall production schedule unfolds. There are numerous aspects to consider in this process.

It used to be that only those with a Paramount+ subscription could enjoy the exclusive show of Big Brother. However, nowadays, spinoffs are based on what CBS has planned for their TV lineup. Typically, BB comes back when there’s no major content for CBS to air instead. To be fair, it makes an excellent choice for filling in the gaps in your viewing schedule since you can fully immerse yourself in it if you wish.

At the very least, we now have an idea about when the next season of Celebrity Big Brother might air, should it make a comeback. This doesn’t guarantee that it will return, but it does debunk any speculation that the network is against bringing it back due to issues from past seasons. I truly hope it returns, and I am eagerly anticipating an exciting cast like the ones we saw in previous seasons.

If you’re a fan of “Celebrity Big Brother” and are looking for something to watch, I recommend checking out the past seasons on Paramount+. Even if you haven’t seen them before, they’re definitely worth a look, especially as the new reality show episodes start to slow down towards the end of the year.
