The dynamic duo of Amazon Prime Video’s latest collaboration, Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, have given a sneak peek into the humor-filled world of their forthcoming comedy titled “You’re Cordially Invited“.
Worldwide on January 30, the movie directed by Nicholas Stoller, starring Jim (Ferrell) and Margot (Witherspoon), is set to premiere. In this film, Jim is in charge of his daughter’s wedding, while Margot attends her younger sister’s. However, chaos ensues when both weddings are mistakenly scheduled at the same, intimate venue on a picturesque island in Atlanta.
The comedy legend predicted a thrilling journey,” shared the individual who was recently featured in a Netflix road-trip documentary alongside his friend Harper Steele. Ferrell made this statement while standing beside his new co-star Witherspoon at the London premiere of the film on Thursday evening. “Nick has come up with an exceptional concept, and in some ways, it seems comfortably familiar,” he added.
He went on to say, ‘There are numerous wedding films, but this one stood out as exceptionally amusing because it features two weddings scheduled for the same day at a location we can’t flee from. It holds significant sentimental value for our characters, making it a battlefield we’re determined to protect, even if it means clashing violently.’
He addressed Witherspoon while saying, “My child is tying the knot, and so is your sibling. It’s a hilarious film that promises an uninhibited good time, yet it’s filled with emotion too. We’re both grappling with the possibility of loss.
At weddings, some people find themselves divided; they’re either genuinely joyful for the couple or contemplating their own circumstances, feeling down. The play delves into these complex emotions,” he explained.
Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, and Jimmy Tatro complete the cast of “You’re Cordially Invited.” Recently, Reese Witherspoon has been seen on Apple TV+’s series “The Morning Show” and in the 2023 romantic comedy “Your Place or Mine.” In 2024, Will Ferrell will lend his voice to “Despicable Me 4,” and he’ll also star in “Will & Harper.
In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter last year about the realm of comedy films, Stoller expressed his admiration for projects that audiences often rewatch. Notably, this director is renowned for movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, and the recent Apple TV+ series Platonic which he co-created.
