Justin Bieber‘s debut album in more than four years, titled “Swag“, is forecasted to have a strong first week, with the record climbing to the top of the daily charts on both Spotify and Apple Music over the weekend.
According to insiders who are knowledgeable about the situation, The Hollywood Reporter has been informed that sales predictions for his seventh studio album suggest approximately 150,000 to 160,000 album equivalent units in its first week. Meanwhile, Hits magazine anticipates a higher figure of around 175,000 units.
Or, more concisely:
Insiders say The Hollywood Reporter that his seventh studio album is projected to sell between 150,000 and 160,000 album equivalent units in its first week, with Hits magazine expecting even higher sales of around 175,000 units.
The projected figures would result in a commendable initial release, taking into account that Swag’s first-week numbers probably won’t incorporate any traditional CD sales, unlike Justice, Bieber’s latest album which debuted at the top of the Billboard chart in 2021 with 154,000 units, out of which 30,000 were physical copies.
It’s possible that the latest estimates could still make Bieber a contender for the top spot on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart, a position Morgan Wallen has held for the last two months. If predictions hold true, Wallen might sell over 150,000 units this week. Notably, all of Bieber’s six previous albums have debuted at No.1 on the chart.
Justin Bieber opted to unveil his song “Swag” unexpectedly rather than previewing any singles ahead of time. He sparked excitement for its release on July 10 by displaying billboards worldwide, hinting at the upcoming drop.
In addition to Wallen’s “I’m the Problem,” Swag is facing stiff competition from Clipse, who released their first album in over a decade this week titled “Let God Sort ‘Em Out“. Similarly, Travis Scott entered the fray with his latest release “JackBoys 2” on Sunday. Notably, Scott consistently dominates the charts; his 2023 album “Utopia” debuted with close to half a million units sold.

On July 12th, following its release, Justin Bieber dominated Spotify’s U.S. chart by occupying the top seven positions. The song “Daisies,” co-produced and co-written by rising star Mk.gee, rose to No. 1 with over 8.5 million streams, still leading Spotify’s chart at the time of this article’s publication. Additionally, Bieber holds five out of the top ten positions on Spotify’s chart. Simultaneously, “All I Can Take” claimed the top spot on Apple Music’s U.S. chart, with Bieber filling eight out of the top ten overall positions.
At a time of significant change in Bieber’s life, the arrival of ‘Swag’ is noteworthy. Since the era of ‘Justice’, he has dealt with health problems, canceled a tour, sold his publishing rights, welcomed a child, and most notably parted ways with Scooter Braun, his long-term manager. More recently, they have settled their outstanding financial matters, with Bieber paying $31 million to cover a debt owed to Braun due to the cancellation of his Justice tour, as well as unpaid commissions.
According to an article published by The Hollywood Reporter in April, it was announced that Bieber was gathering a fresh group of associates and preparing for the upcoming phase of his professional life.
