Will Netflix’s The Four Seasons Return? Here’s What Season 2 Could Look Like!

SPOILERS are ahead for The Four Seasons, now streaming with a Netflix subscription.

Many of us have been captivated by the latest Netflix sensation: Tina Fey’s The Four Seasons miniseries! I couldn’t resist binging through the hilarity in just a couple of sessions, leaving me craving more. After finishing it, I can’t help but speculate about the possibility of a second season and what it might entail. Here are my thoughts on why I believe there will be a follow-up and potential plotlines.

The Four Seasons Ending Felt Like A Cliffhanger To Me

I was quite surprised when the show decided to write off Steve Carell’s character, Nick. However, this plot twist provided a powerful emotional conclusion to the series, as it made the group of friends realize and cherish their relationships more, and they became less critical of Ginny, his girlfriend. There’s even a touching scene where Anne, Nick’s ex-wife, builds a connection with Ginny and makes amends. The biggest shock came when we found out that Ginny is carrying Nick’s baby!

Given that the final scene of the show concludes with Anne delivering a tantalizing announcement just before the screen goes dark, it’s hard not to speculate that the producers planned it to leave viewers eagerly anticipating more from the start. In fact, I stumbled upon some information about potential Season 2 developments. As co-creator Tracey Wigfield revealed to TV Insider:

Should we consider another round, we’d prefer to keep the same circle of friends involved. More importantly, we’d like Ginny to play a significant role as she and Anne will become the parents of siblings. This dynamic offers an abundance of storylines for us to explore within their relationship.

So, they are already thinking about it, right? Tina Fey also said this:

Initially, it seems we haven’t had the courage to envision grandly, but we’ve done so in the past. After all, one never knows. Should fortune smile upon us and offer more opportunities, I have no doubt that we would all eagerly look forward to gathering again.

It’s clear that Fey, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, and others were enjoying themselves immensely. So, wouldn’t it be great if we had a second season? Now, you might be curious about the plot, right?

I Think The Ending Leaves Room For Season 2 To Explore A New Theme For The Friend Group

It turned out that The Four Seasons wasn’t as similar to The White Lotus as I had imagined, considering we’re yet to see Season 4. Interestingly, I didn’t realize that it was inspired by an ’80s movie. Although it was never intended to be an anthology series, I believe it could borrow a few elements from its style. This season appears to have primarily explored romantic relationships and their transformations over time. The relationship between Nick and Anne disintegrates, which in turn puts the other couples’ partnerships under strain. There’s also a recurring theme about the effort put into maintaining a marriage throughout the show.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited about the prospect of the upcoming four seasons delving into the friend group’s experiences with parenthood, following Ginny’s pregnancy revelation at the end. With Ginny embarking on her journey as a first-time mom, Anne navigating single parenthood, Jack and Kate reintroducing their daughter into the storyline, and Danny and Claude still enjoying their childless life, there’s plenty of room for engaging discussions and comedic situations. I can hardly wait to see how this new development sparks conversations about parenting within the group!

Keep an eye out for any updates regarding a possible second season. In the meantime, feel free to explore upcoming Netflix releases set for 2025.
