The ending of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” leaves the impression that Scarlet Witch may have perished, but fans are confident she’s not gone for good. In fact, a recent Marvel Comic depicts Elizabeth Olsen’s character being preserved by the Time Variance Authority. Nevertheless, recent statements from Olsen herself suggest uncertainty about her involvement in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Despite this, I remain hopeful that Wanda Maximoff will appear in these future Marvel films.
What Elizabeth Olsen Said About The Next Two Avengers Movies
At present, Elizabeth Olsen is appearing in the film “The Assessment“, which debuted this past weekend as part of the 2025 movie lineup. In an interview with THR, she spoke about her work on the project and various other subjects, such as her involvement in the Sam Esmail-directed movie “Panic Carefully” which she was working on in London, England. When asked if she would extend her stay to collaborate once more with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who are soon set to commence filming “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars” sequentially, she replied:
Affirmative, I’ve returned [to the United States]. I’ve wrapped up [my project named Panic Carefully]. Next, I’ll be working on filming a pilot for FX, titled Seven Sisters.
Initially, it seems like bad news since Elizabeth Olsen has reportedly confirmed she won’t be part of “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars”. However, other headlines suggest the same, and it might be disappointing if Scarlet Witch is missing from these movies given her uncertain future after the Doctor Strange sequel. Yet, I am not entirely convinced that she won’t be involved in some capacity in these upcoming Avengers films.
Why I Don’t Think Elizabeth Olsen’s Update Is As Bad As It Sounds
First, let’s consider this point: if the production of Doomsday and Secret Wars is similar to the back-to-back filming of Infinity War and Endgame>, then the Russo brothers might be looking at about a year, or even more, of filming. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Elizabeth Olsen won’t be involved in the entire project. It could simply mean that her scenes aren’t required at the beginning of the shoot. Alternatively, she may not appear in Doomsday, but could join the cast once the Secret Wars scenes start being filmed in London.
It’s important to note that there were rumors last October suggesting Wanda could share significant screen time with Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Avengers films. These rumors also hinted at a romantic relationship between them. For now, take these claims with a pinch of salt. However, they’ve sparked speculation among fans that Doctor Doom might require Wanda’s reality-bending abilities to create his own universe. Until the Russo brothers, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, or someone else in a high position at Marvel officially confirms Elizabeth Olsen’s involvement in “Doomsday” and/or “Secret Wars,” I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Concerning Feige, he expressed his eagerness a few weeks post-release of Agatha All Along, along with the Marvel team, about when and how Scarlet Witch might reappear. Therefore, it’s safe to infer that Elizabeth Olsen isn’t finished gracing the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, regardless of the manner in which it unfolds. In the meantime, you can enjoy her past performances within this franchise by utilizing your Disney+ subscription.
