Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri Couple Up in AppleTV+ Rom-Com Series ‘Prodigies’

Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri are set to lead a new AppleTV+ rom-com, Prodigies.

Produced and helmed by renowned creator Sharpe, known for “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain”, this seven-episode series additionally lists Edebiri, a key player in “The Bear”, as one of its executive producers.

Or more concisely:

Sharpe, famous for “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain”, both produces and directs this seven-part series, with Edebiri from “The Bear” serving as an executive producer.

As a devoted admirer, I’m eagerly anticipating “Sister,” a heartwarming romantic comedy that delves into the intricate nuances of long-standing partnerships. This extraordinary tale will be narrated from the perspective of an exceptionally unusual pair.

Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe), once prodigious children, have been companions since their early years. Now in their mid-thirties, they’re both wondering if their ordinary lives are a reflection of the remarkable potential they had as kids. Their relationship becomes a subject of contemplation as personal aspirations and requirements intertwine with their shared life. The series delves into the false premise often found in romantic narratives – that happiness is achieved once the protagonists are together. Instead, it suggests that this could just be the start of a much longer journey.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that, just like us, Sharpe takes on the role of an executive producer, joining forces with Edebiri, Jane Featherstone (of Black Doves fame), Naomi de Pear (renowned from This Is Going to Hurt), and Katie Carpenter (whose credits include Landscapers). Together, we’re all working under the banner of Sister.

A release date is yet to be confirmed for Prodigies.

More recently, renowned British actor Sean Bean featured in Jesse Eisenberg’s movie titled “A Real Pain.” In this production, he portrayed the role of a tour guide, guiding Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin’s characters through Poland, as they paid tribute to their deceased Jewish grandmother. Notably, Culkin was awarded the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his outstanding performance in the Searchlight Pictures film.

Edebiri is a renowned actress who has garnered awards, primarily recognized for her performances in the movie ‘Bottoms’ alongside Rachel Sennott, and in the FX show ‘The Bear’, sharing screen time with Jeremy Allen White.
