As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of wrestling-watching experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the move of Monday Night Raw to Netflix is a game-changer. The prospect of watching Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and other WWE legends on one of the best streaming services around has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.
For over three decades, Monday Night Raw, WWE’s premier show, has aired on cable networks, primarily USA Network. However, this long-standing tradition is about to change as it will now be streaming exclusively on Netflix. In no time, subscribers of Netflix can enjoy live performances from renowned WWE champions such as Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Rhea Ripley, and Liv Morgan on one of the most popular streaming platforms available.
Preparing for the next major transformation in television wrestling, let’s delve into the specifics of Raw‘s streaming premiere on Netflix. Join us as we unravel when Raw will first air, who will be present at the much-anticipated WWE event, and what exciting elements await from the show and the company in the future.
When Does WWE Raw Premiere On Netflix?
As a die-hard WWE fan, I’m thrilled to share that while our viewing location might shift, the legendary Monday Night Raw is here to stay on its traditional day and hour. Exciting news! Netflix has revealed that starting January 6, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET, we’ll witness Raw live from the cutting-edge Intuit Dome in Los Angeles – a brand new, top-tier venue. Can’t wait to be there!
Don’t fret if you can’t catch the show when it’s live, because episodes of Raw are included in Netflix’s vast collection of TV series, so you can watch them whenever you like!
Which WWE Wrestlers Will Be At The Raw On Netflix Premiere?
When “Raw” debuts on Netflix, it’s guaranteed there will be some significant surprises. WWE has confirmed that Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Bianca Belair are all expected to appear as part of the beginning of a new era. Additionally, John Cena, who is embarking on his acclaimed 2025 retirement tour, will also be present. It’s possible, just possible, that during this time we might witness the former wrestler-turned-actor facing off against one of our dream opponents before he retires.
Will There Be Any Celebrity Guests On Raw?
It’s a well-established tradition for celebrities to attend WrestleMania and other WWE events, and this practice is set to persist when RAW debuts on Netflix in early 2025. WWE and Netflix have made an announcement that Travis Scott, whose music label Cactus Jack bears no relation to Mick Foley’s hardcore wrestling character of the same name, will not only make an appearance during the premiere night, but he’ll also be contributing the new theme tune for the show.
It Looks Like The TV-14 Era Is About To Begin Again
It seems that WWE’s TV-PG era might be coming to an end, as Netflix categorizes “Monday Night Raw” as TV-14. This means “Raw” will no longer be subjected to family-friendly ratings and restrictions for the first time since 2008. However, this doesn’t necessarily imply a return to the explicit content like Jerry Lawler’s “puppies” references, dangerous chair-shots, or controversial moments from the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression periods. It’s unlikely that such a transformation will occur.
WWE And Netflix Haven’t Said If Raw Will Return To The Three-Hour Format, But There Are Rumors
In October 2024, WWE made a significant adjustment by reducing the length of Raw from a three-hour program to a two-hour broadcast, marking the first time this change had been made in more than a decade. Despite neither WWE nor Netflix having issued any statements regarding the structure once Raw transitions to a streaming model in January 2025, whispers suggest that Raw may return to the format initially used for the 1000th episode of its flagship show, which took place in July 2012.
In September 2024, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observe/Figure Four Online, Raw was set to return to a three-hour format on Netflix. It appears that this decision was driven by USA Network. A month later, during the Bad Blood press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H mentioned that discussions regarding the episode length between WWE and Netflix were still ongoing.
Be sure not to miss the debut of Monday Night Raw on Netflix on January 6, 2025, a night that ranks among the most anticipated in the 2025 television lineup.
