As a long-time fan of competitive multiplayer games, I’ve seen my fair share of promising titles falter and eventually fade away. And it seems that XDefiant, with its ambitious goal to dethrone Call of Duty, might be joining their ranks.
It appears that XDefiant, once seen as a serious competitor to Call of Duty’s dominance, may be facing its demise based on recent developments. Ubisoft’s arcade shooter has reportedly fallen short of expectations, leaving many players considering that it might have already met its end.
XDefiant, which was initially hyped up as a potential “CoD killer,” has encountered difficulties in gaining momentum, with some concerned that it may not survive beyond the next year following its six-month debut.
Players fear XDefiant won’t survive 12 months
Concerned spectators wondered if their declared competitor had lost an opportunity to profit from Modern Warfare 2’s setbacks, now that MW3 had helped restore its reputation, and they may have been correct.
I’ve recently come across a tweet revealing that XDefiant had just over 1.7k viewers on Twitch while streaming. This number has left some gamers expressing concerns about the potential fate of the game.
As a passionate gamer, I’ve been pondering over XDefiant lately. And let me tell you, fellow gamers, I’m starting to have my doubts about its future. According to content creator Zii, there’s a strong possibility that this game may not make it past the next year.
It’s been a while since we last discussed XDefiant, and I have concerns about its future. Since the launch of season 1, I’ve been relatively silent on this matter, but I fear that the game may not make it past another year. To explore potential solutions, I plan to arrange a conversation between the developers and influential content creators.

“A fan commented that the community may have been misled by false promises about the game’s readiness, and now they’re dealing with the consequences. This is what can happen when we exaggerate about a game being ‘finished’.”
I’ve discovered that while the game has great potential at its foundation, something is amiss when it comes to my enjoyment during gameplay. I just can’t put my finger on it. Viewership on Twitch might not give a complete picture, as many games lack a substantial content creation community. However, a strong player base can still generate decent viewership numbers.
XDefiant is struggling currently, particularly with issues in its core game modes such as Ranked. It’s going to be a challenge for Ubisoft to revive the game. The question remains whether XDefiant will still exist a year from now – stay tuned for updates.
