As a long-time fan of Kanye West and his creative genius, I must say that with every new release, he manages to surprise and captivate me. The “VULTURES 2” album is no exception; it’s like Ye has taken us on yet another auditory journey through his mind. The “SLIDE” video is a testament to his vision as a director, with its one-take, black-and-white, side-angled shot that gives an eerie, cinematic feel.
As the second installment of VULTURES, or VULTURES 2, gains traction and acclaim in the popular music scene, receiving favorable reviews and ratings from critics and audiences, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign are consistently releasing accompanying videos and additional tracks for the album. Following last week’s release of the “FRIED” music video, they have now unveiled the official visual for the album opener “SLIDE.”
Under the guidance of directors Ye and Aus Taylor, the video titled “SLIDE” is described by Taylor as a “depiction of the blade.” This refers to a single take, side-angled, black-and-white visual sequence that moves down a dimly lit street. The entire video was captured using 4-Perf 35 mm film.
“We gon’ paint the city red, it’s tie-dye, ask Ty (Get up) / Addicted to the nightlife, jumpin’ off a jet, skydive / Your life a movie, mine a sci-fi (Get up) / Told her friends she a ten, I lied / Really, she in the high fives (Get up),” delivers Ye on the second verse.
