‘Yellowstone’ Fans Slam the Finale as the ”Worst Ever” in TV History

'Yellowstone' Fans Slam the Finale as the ''Worst Ever'' in TV History

As a long-time fan of Yellowstone, I must admit that I was left with a mix of emotions after watching the final episode. The show had been a staple in my weekly viewing routine for years, and I had grown attached to the characters and their stories. However, the finale left me feeling a bit let down, much like a cowboy left high and dry in the middle of the prairie.

Warning: SPOILERS to follow for the Yellowstone finale.

The dust has settled. The verdict is in.
has now ended and fans are…not too happy about how creator Taylor Sheridan wrapped up this Western saga. Taking to social media following the finale, “Life Is a Promise,” some fans have even declared the last episode the worst ever in prestige TV history, taking over from the much-maligned
finale.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’ve got to express my dismay over the final season of “Yellowstone.” Just like user @JustinRaley_15, I can no longer defend it as the best finale among TV shows. It has dethroned “Game of Thrones” as the worst final season in my book. Fellow cinephile and former fan @authordwhite shares this sentiment, viewing the finale as a harsh critique of contemporary television. In their words, “It seems like great television series can’t deliver satisfying conclusions. #YellowstoneTV started by captivating us with a powerful, wealthy, violent landowner, only to leave us shaking our heads at his death and everything in between.

Meanwhile, @WillGrayPSN found themselves not liking the final episodes at all. To them, unfortunately, Yellowstone lost its original charm and started resembling something quite different from its former self.

“#Yellowstone was so good and then it wasn’t. I mean that might be worst 3 episodes to finish a tv show I’ve ever watched. I mean f*ck it was just constant bullsh*t. Concerts, montages of pointless nonsense. Just a terrible ending to a show that started so incredibly strong.”

Did ‘Yellowstone’ Make a Mistake in Killing off Kevin Costner’s John Dutton?

In simple terms, “Yellowstone,” a neo-Western drama by Taylor Sheridan, revolves around the struggles between the owners of the Yellowstone ranch and the diverse entities desiring the land for their purposes. The final season unexpectedly wrote off its primary character, John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner. Although the main series concluded, there are loose ends left open to be explored in potential spin-offs.

@arcticninjapaul’s perspective offers a subtler view, suggesting that the finale balanced tender, heartfelt scenes with prolonged instances (such as Lainey Wilson’s performance, which seemed excessive) and wrapped up various plot threads rather swiftly (including Jamie’s fate). These elements could have benefited from more emotional depth had they not reached this critical juncture. Regardless, anticipation builds for the next phase of the story.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the first four seasons, the final one seemed to unravel due to conflicts between the studio, the showrunner, and the main actor, resulting in an unsatisfying ending that slightly tarnished its reputation. Luckily, those characters who managed to persevere have gained our affection to such an extent that we’d love to see them continue in some capacity or another. Here’s hoping that suitable agreements can be reached to keep the story moving forward on this new adventure.

Regarding AndyPalys, the source of discontent lies with Taylor Sheridan. “The #Yellowstone season finale was abysmal. I wonder how much time you put into crafting this one, TaylorSheridan? Just a quarter of an hour? You can pin the blame on Kevin Costner as much as you like, but it’s YOU who tarnished the show, you arrogant, money-grubbing charlatan,” they expressed. Similarly, Seanperez007 shares their disappointment, stating, “The finale of #Yellowstone was wretched. Are we genuinely eager for a spinoff featuring Beth and Cole? Absolutely not! The series took a turn for the worse after Costner departed.

It’s fortunate that not everything was negative. @darkmessiah2000 expressed his appreciation for the Yellowstone series finale, calling it “exceptionally good.” He particularly admired the scene where the Native Americans restored the ranch to its natural state, describing it as “stunning.” On the other hand, @JosephPallotta enjoyed the season finale of Yellowstone. Some viewers may not have shared his enthusiasm, but he respects their opinions. For him, the show was simply enjoyable.
