As a die-hard Yellowstone fan who’s been riding this wild horse for seasons now, I can’t help but feel a mix of shock and intrigue after witnessing John Dutton’s apparent demise in the Season 5B premiere. The way they set it up, with the ominous foreshadowing and the suddenness of his death, it’s clear that this isn’t just another dusty trail of cowboy drama.
Major spoilers for everyone who hasn’t yet seen Yellowstone’s Season 5B premiere, so be warned!
Oh my goodness, everyone! We’ve been anxiously anticipating the final Season 5 episodes of “Yellowstone” for almost two years now, and with so much speculation surrounding Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton – whether he’d be absent or miraculously return after production challenges – it felt like every possible theory had been floated. But the moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! The Fall TV season is upon us, and those dramatic cowboys and cowgirls of TV’s west are back in action. No more guesswork needed, because now we have our answer: John Dutton is as good as gone, deader than a doornail or even a horseshoe nail.
As a dedicated Yellowstone fan, I can’t wait to uncover the secrets behind the Paramount Network’s grand finale before diving into the next exciting chapter with The Madison spinoff. And here’s a sneak peek at other upcoming Yellowstone series!
Yellowstone Killed Off John Dutton By Suspected Suicide
Instead of saving the shocking reveal for the final moments of the midseason premiere, Yellowstone immediately set off a surprise with its opening scenes. Arriving at the Governor’s Mansion, Beth and Kayce discover the area cordoned off by caution tape and police presence. Despite their lack of authorization, they decide to venture inside, only to confront one of their deepest fears before the episode even begins in earnest.
Initially discovered lying on the bathroom floor with a firearm nearby and blood splattered walls, along with what appeared to be additional evidence of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, John was subsequently reported to have taken his own life. However, upon further investigation, it became clear that things were not as they initially seemed.
But John Was Almost Definitely Murdered
After a while without revisiting Season 5’s last episode, I hadn’t immediately recalled Jamie and Sarah’s earlier discussion about introducing a third party to eliminate the elder Dutton. However, that point was emphasized during the flashback scene where Sarah visited a highly secured location and met with a shady-looking man named “Grant.
MORE FROM THE RANCH
I Inquired from the Yellowstone cast regarding significant scenes to consider as we approach the 5B premiere, and they provided me with some suggestions about what to pay attention to.
Grant indirectly implicates John and Jamie without explicitly naming them by referring to “Mr. Dutton” and the “Attorney General.” He outlines a plan suggesting the Dutton patriarch committed suicide, although Sarah expresses doubts about this version of events. Although his logic seemed sound, it was evident that he underestimated how implausible such an occurrence would be within the Dutton family.
I’m a bit hesitant about the new plot twist in Yellowstone, which involves a covert group of assassins pretending accidents are actually murders. For the sake of this strange last part of the series, I guess I’ll go along with it, using whatever money I have on hand. If they can cut off power at the mansion to make surveillance cameras ineffective, then they must be quite powerful.
How Heavily Will Jamie Pay For What He’s Done?
Beth may not hold a detective title, but she achieved a solution reminiscent of Clue’s gameplay by swiftly accusing Jamie of John’s demise, disregarding the tangible evidence she personally observed. Initially, Kayce expressed reluctance to align with her suspicions, yet as the premiere unfolded, he appeared to be on the brink of being fully convinced.
As a fan, I can’t help but wonder: Is there any concrete evidence pointing towards Jamie being the one responsible at this stage? If Sarah were to come clean about her actions to others, it could potentially make a difference; however, considering her high-profile career and the likelihood of her avoiding prison time, I find it highly unlikely that she would betray herself like that.
In simpler terms, it seems unlikely that Jamie will serve time for his actions this season, as Beth or Rip would probably kill him before he has the chance to surrender, while Kayce might allow him to speak a bit more first. Essentially, I don’t foresee a situation where Jamie ends up going to prison for his wrongdoings; instead, it may end with a tragic journey to the train station.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my concern about how Yellowstone might conclude if Beth doesn’t deliver a brutal beating to Jamie that leaves no doubt on his face, torso, genitals, and limbs. If there’s an unexpected twist in the final moments that suggests John accidentally shot himself during a bathroom incident, I still hope Beth will find an opportunity to avenge her unborn children in the most lethal manner possible.
Keep an eye out for further surprises and intricate plots from the hit series, Yellowstone. Tune in every Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Paramount Network. Fingers crossed that CBS will be able to air additional episodes of this season on broadcast.
