As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for Western dramas and a soft spot for complex characters, I can’t help but eagerly anticipate the return of Kelly Reilly‘s Beth Dutton in Yellowstone Season 5. Having followed her journey since the show’s debut back in 2018, it feels like welcoming an old friend after a long hiatus.
It’s been a while since fans embarked on a perilous journey with someone to the ominously known Train Station, but don’t anticipate Kelly Reilly’s character, Beth Dutton, to make that questionable ride any time soon. However, in the realm of contemporary Westerns, Beth might outlast the final stop and possibly continue past the closure of Kevin Costner’s portrayal of the Dutton Ranch. Remarkably, the initial episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 were wrapped up as far back as January 2023.
In terms of context, “A Knife and No Coin,” which was episode 8 from Season 5, aired prior to the writers’ (WGA) and actors’ (SAG-AFTRA) strikes in 2023. However, with the Kevin Costner dispute now resolved, Reilly is open to further embodying Beth’s character, moving beyond her complex father John Dutton (Costner), as she shared with Entertainment Weekly.
There might be another installment in the works, as discussions are ongoing. However, nothing is definitive yet. If Taylor Sheridan decides to pen it, I would be interested in participating. After all, he has penned every line I’ve ever spoken, and my character originated from his imagination. We both agree that a change is necessary.
Since Yellowstone first premiered in June 2018, Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, has also hinted at how the franchise might carry on beyond the original series. “It’s not sustainable to keep telling the same tale,” Reilly remarked. “This narrative is wrapping up. As for Yellowstone as we currently understand it, it will conclude, but if there are more stories to share about certain characters, they may be presented in a slightly different way.”
Beth Dutton Beyond Yellowstone Season 5
Taylor Sheridan is at present working on a contemporary spin-off of the well-liked “Yellowstone” series titled “The Madison“, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. However, the story for characters like the fierce and unyielding Beth Dutton isn’t completely concluded after Season 5. And even though there are no definite plans regarding Beth’s future, actress Kelly Reilly is eager for the series to resume production. In an interview with RadioTimes.com back in March, she expressed her readiness for the show’s return.
Boy, I’m eager for everyone to watch the final episodes of our show. We can only film during summer as Montana experiences heavy snowfall from November to May, making it difficult to shoot scenes with horses in such conditions. Unfortunately, last year we missed that window due to a actors’ strike. So, I’m excited to finally bring the show back and wrap things up.
Approximately a month ago, we heard that Yellowstone Season 6 could be a reality, as both Kelly Reilly and her co-star Cole Hauser (who portrays her character’s on-screen lover, Rip) are reportedly in discussions to reprise their roles. However, it is crucial to note that no contracts have been signed at this point in time. With this information and recent statements from Kelly Reilly, it appears that Yellowstone fans may indeed have a reasonable chance of continuing Beth Dutton’s tale beyond the end of Season 5 Part 2.
As a dedicated movie critic, I’m thrilled to announce that my favorite show, Yellowstone, will finally return for its fifth season on Sunday, November 10, gracing our screens on the Paramount Network.
