YMC FW24 Takes an Elevated Lens to Western Prep

As a seasoned gamer and fashion enthusiast who’s spent countless hours traversing digital landscapes of various genres, I can say that YMC’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection feels like a much-needed respite after battling virtual monsters in the digital frontier. The collection harks back to simpler times, reminiscent of the classic games where cowboys, bikers, and prep school students were our avatars in the pixelated past.

For the upcoming Fall/Winter 2024 season, the London-based fashion label YMC has decided to redirect its anti-establishment inspiration from California’s pre-hippie era towards traditional prep styles, understated formal wear with a twist, and Western design themes.

For this season’s highlights, the Brainticket Jacket focuses on keeping you cozy with its robust structure, large buttons, and shearling collar, while the Buck Jacket opts for full leather, blending traditional biker aesthetics with Western fringe accents. The Billy Bob Shirt embraces cowboy style with mock smile pockets on a long-sleeved denim design, and the Rat Pack Cardigan, made from a blend of merino wool, is perfect for urban residents.

In the future, comfy sweaters will make bold fashion statements through intricate pattern designs and high-end textured finishes. Brightly colored shirts and button-ups also catch the eye in a similar manner. Sweatshirts featuring contrasting fabrics divided by a flowing line across the chest are referred to as “Faux Western” style, and robust shearling suede vests add to the collection’s rugged outdoor vibe.

Among the types of trousers are the Babe Ruth style, known for its spacious, wide-leg silhouette, along with Painter bottoms that boast a practical design featuring large pockets and side straps. The Creole Peg pants extend the width even further than the Babe Ruth style, while Earth Bez jeans offer a more structured build.
