Regrettably, the wildfires in California continue to burn, leaving the city struggling to recover from this massive natural catastrophe. Additionally, these fires have disrupted filming schedules for popular shows like NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy, S.W.A.T., and others. Now, unfortunately, the CBS show led by Shemar Moore is being temporarily halted due to yet another fire.
In early January, numerous individuals were forced to flee for safety and subsequently lost their homes due to the fires. Additionally, several film productions based in LA temporarily halted production, such as S.W.A.T., following the Palisades and Eaton fires that ignited on January 7th.
As reported by Cal Fire, the Palisades Fire is nearly under control at 72% containment, while the Eaton Fire is almost completely contained at 95%. This has allowed for the resumption of filming on shows such as S.W.A.T., with firefighters continuing their efforts to fully extinguish these fires. However, production on Moore’s show was temporarily halted once more, according to Deadline, due to the outbreak of The Hughes wildfire.
On January 22, as per Cal Fire, the Hughes fire ignited and covers more than 10,000 acres. Deadline reported that it originated at approximately 10:30 a.m., close to Santa Clarita, near Castaic Lake. By early evening, it had grown to 9,400 acres. At present, it’s 14% contained and has led to evacuations for around 31,000 people, as well as the closure of part of the 5 freeway. Since S.W.A.T. films are being made in the area, production had to be halted due to this fiercely spreading blaze.
This announcement is being made during a significant change in CBS’s Friday night schedule. Prior to the mid-season pause, the primetime lineup consisted of S.W.A.T., Fire Country, and Blue Bloods. However, Blue Bloods, which stars Tom Selleck, concluded in December. As a result, the schedule will now be as follows: NCIS: Sydney, Fire Country, and then S.W.A.T.
Due to some fires and other unforeseen incidents, this lineup has undergone minor adjustments now and then. In the initial week of January, the fire drama featuring Max Thieriot postponed a rebroadcast, causing an additional encore episode of the NCIS spinoff to air instead. Furthermore, the mid-season premiere of NCIS: Sydney was delayed because of a forthcoming special announcement.
However, by February, all three shows should be airing new episodes weekly on the 2025 TV schedule.
Note that while S.W.A.T.’s release schedule could still be subject to change due to its two previous delays, as of now, it’s uncertain if any episodes will be rescheduled. At the moment, Shemar Moore’s series is set to return on Friday, January 31 at 10 p.m. ET.
Should there be any updates, we’ll make certain to keep you informed. Until then, you have the opportunity to stream S.W.A.T. and the entire CBS Friday evening program lineup by subscribing to Paramount+.
