Following Sean Combs’ autumn arrest, there’s been a flurry of speculation surrounding him. Currently incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, he’s dealing with federal charges and multiple lawsuits. In relation to the lawsuits, Diddy – also known as P. Diddy – along with Jay-Z, have been accused of a rape that allegedly occurred over two decades ago, involving a 13-year-old. Both have denied these accusations. Amidst their legal struggles, Mark Curry, a former Bad Boy Records artist, has voiced his criticisms about them publicly.
The now-53-year-old Mark Curry recently participated in an Instagram Live session, during which he fielded questions from fans. While he discussed a number of topics, the veteran rapper also discussed former collaborator P. Diddy as well as Jay-Z (whose actual name is Shawn Carter). Curry admitted in the video that he doesn’t talk about either of his fellow hip hop veterans these days, yet he did go on to criticize them and allege that their rises within the industry are merely due to them short-changing others:

So, let us not forget about these unrealized giants in the music world. How many exceptional artists were left untapped due to the empowerment wielded by Diddy and Jay-Z?

During my tenure with this label, we produced the smash hit single “Bad Boy for Life” in 2001, a collaboration with Puff Daddy and Black Rob. However, like any partnership, there were challenges, which I delved into in my 2009 book titled “Dancing with the Devil.”
Much like the candidness in that publication, I didn’t hold back when expressing other thoughts during a recent IG Live, even taking Jay to task for failing to lend his support.
Jay-Z recognizes me, Mark Curry. Yet, he’s never called to say something along the lines of, “Hey, Mark, I understand you’re struggling. As someone who has walked this path with you, what can we do together to help ensure you’re on the right track?”… They simply don’t extend such gestures. These people are out of their minds. They act irrationally. That’s why they’re in the situation they’re in. You know why? Because treating God’s children with disrespect is not acceptable.

2024 saw a series of lawsuits involving Diddy escalate towards the end of the year. In October, it was alleged that Diddy raped a minor following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. This case was reopened in December and expanded to include Jay-Z, who was accused of stripping the young woman naked at a residence and raping her before Diddy is said to have also sexually assaulted her. However, Shawn Carter issued a statement denying these claims shortly after the reopening of the case.
I’ve been closely following Sean Combs’ situation, and it seems that most of his friends in the limelight have remained silent about his recent legal troubles. However, a few have stepped forward to offer support. Months ago, federal authorities raided several of Combs’ residences as part of an investigation into alleged sex-trafficking activities. During these searches, a vast array of items were confiscated, including over a thousand bottles of lubricant. As of now, Combs is facing serious charges, which include sex trafficking, transportation for the purpose of prostitution, arson, racketeering, and more. I’m keeping a close eye on how this situation unfolds.
It’s uncertain if Mark Curry will provide further insights about P. Diddy or Jay-Z at this point. However, their ongoing lawsuit continues, and the trial for P. Diddy’s sex-trafficking case is scheduled to start on May 5.
