A significant number of our top subscribers can’t seem to get enough of it. The newest DC-themed animated original film has created quite a stir on our streaming platform.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League” has made it to the third spot on Max’s Top 10 Movies Worldwide list! It trails only “It Feeds” at No. 2 and “A Minecraft Movie” in the top position. The rest of the chart, from highest to lowest, features a chilling horror hit, “Anaconda”, a compelling documentary titled “My Mom Jayne”, the hilarious Adam Sandler comedy “Big Daddy”, the gripping Robert De Niro gangster drama “The Alto Knights”, the adrenaline-pumping action film “Ninja Assassin”, the latest installment in the “Fast & Furious” series, “Fast X”, and another laugh-out-loud Adam Sandler movie, “Pixels”.
In my humble opinion as a movie enthusiast, the extraordinary fusion of caped crusaders and yakuza gangsters in “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League” has swiftly become a streaming sensation, barely 24 hours after its debut on Max. It’s been a captivating ride, I must say, with this new adventure roughly four months following its digital release. Interestingly enough, despite the seven-year wait for a sequel to the 2018 “Batman Ninja”, the storyline picks up just a day after the original’s climax. Our hero, Batman, and his allies find themselves transported back to the present day, only to discover that Gotham City has been overtaken by the Yakuza League – a twisted, dark reflection of the Justice League, with Superman leading the charge. It’s a gripping tale that promises action-packed battles and intriguing twists!
The Batman Ninja Movies Have Been Well-Received
Similar to its precursor, “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League” has been generally well-received by critics. The original film boasts an 82% approval rating on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel doesn’t yet have enough reviews for a full rating. Nevertheless, out of the five critical reviews that have been tallied for “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League”, all are favorable, suggesting a potential 100% approval rating. On the other hand, the audience score for the animated sequel currently stands at 74%, significantly higher than the initial movie’s 60%. However, it’s important to note that the sequel has received over a thousand user reviews, compared to fewer than fifty for its 2025 successor.
The movies based on Batman Ninja have garnered acclaim for blending DC lore with ancient Japanese history in an anime fashion. Similarly, DC and Warner Bros. Animation have delved into fusing cultures and comic books once more with Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires. This tale revolves around Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy whose father is slain by Spanish conquistadors. After years, Coatl matures into an adult priest serving King Moctezuma II. In the temple of Tzinacan, he collaborates with his fellow clerics to invent weapons and gear, which he employs under the guise of “Batman” to confront the Spanish invaders. Characters such as Joker and Two-Face are reimagined in Aztec fashion within this animated film, set for release on Max this year.
Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is streaming on Max.
