The manga titled “Oshi no Ko,” written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, delves into the unforgiving world of Japan’s contemporary entertainment industry as a pop idol. The narrative unfolds when Gorou Amemiya, a rural doctor by his previous life, inexplicably reborns as Ai Hoshino’s infant son. As he adapts to his new existence, Gorou discovers that the joy Ai radiates to her followers is merely a skillful facade. When Ai’s life meets an untimely end at the hands of an unknown assailant, Gorou embarks on a mission within the entertainment industry to unmask and punish the culprit for his actions. Studio Doga Kobo, known for productions like “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun” and “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian,” launched an anime adaptation of this series in 2023, encompassing two seasons as of now.
An upcoming novel titled “Lira and the Winds of War” explores the sorrowful backdrop of our world, penned by Sayuri Ueda. The narrative centers around Lira, a young Polish girl who tragically loses her family during a conflict known as “The Great War.” Forced to reside in a grand mansion belonging to an enigmatic immortal called The Count, she encounters a compassionate German soldier named Joerg. In a bid to safeguard her homeland, Lira persuades the Count to utilize his powers. Simultaneously, Joerg grapples with a challenging decision that may shape the destiny of mankind. According to Yen Press, the story portrays humanity’s past as a charmingly foolish tapestry.
Significantly, publishing house Yen Press has obtained the rights for a novel by author Tow Ubukata, renowned for his work “Bye, Bye Earth“. The story of “Bone Ash” follows Mitsuhiro Matsunaga, an investor relations manager, who, during a survey of a potential construction site, hears whispers online about bones supposedly found in the vicinity. When Mitsuhiro personally examines the area, he is shocked by the scent of ashes from a corpse that appears to have been completely reduced to dust, even the bones. To compound his troubles, he encounters an area with strange ritual symbols etched into the ground, which leads to further chilling disclosures about the site’s history.
