He shared an authentic-looking photo of the cake, which had a matka (earthen pot) covered with a red cloth and the words “Matka King” written on it. His caption was simply, “Matka King wrapped!”. This post has sparked anticipation among fans for his upcoming series.
In the near future, Nagraj Manjule – director of Sairat and Fandry – will direct a web series. This series will explore the intense and risky realm of Matka gambling. The King of Matka is set in the bustling streets of Mumbai during the 1960s. A clever cotton merchant challenges the status quo by creating a bold new game based on numbers. This innovative venture quickly spreads like wildfire throughout the city, drawing ordinary citizens into a world previously accessible only to the elite.
This hard-edged show explores a metropolis in flux, where wealth can suddenly appear, allegiances are challenged, and the risks have never been greater. In addition to Vijay, it stars Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in significant roles. The production is overseen by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Manjule, alongside Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani, under the label of Roy Kapur Films.
