Yudhra Review: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan's film has mind-boggling action but is bogged down by a dragged and clichéd story

Plot:

As an action-movie enthusiast who’s seen more than a few Bollywood flicks that dabble in crime and suspense, I must say Yudhra left me with a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, the action sequences were nothing short of exhilarating, truly mind-boggling, and I must admit, they kept me on the edge of my seat! But on the other hand, the storyline felt disappointingly predictable and overly dragged out.

In simpler terms, character named Yudhra (played by Siddhant Chaturvedi), who was raised as an orphan with a hot temper, often finds himself in trouble. His uncle Rehman (Ram Kapoor), a member of the special forces, proposes to Kartik Rathore (Gajraj Rao), Yudhra’s adoptive father and former colleague of Yudhra’s biological father in the police force (now a politician), that Yudhra should join the military to channel his abilities positively. Through military training, Yudhra learns self-control. However, due to an incident where he nearly kills a bully, Yudhra is expelled from the army. Later on, Rehman encourages him to become an undercover police officer.

In the narrative, it falls upon Yudhra to dismantle an influential drug cartel, a group linked to the tragic demise of his beloved parents.

In a simpler and more conversational style: Raj Arjun takes on the character of drug mafia, Feroz. Raghav Juyal portrays Shafiq, Feroz’s son. Malavika Mohanan plays the part of Rehman’s daughter who gets entangled in the chaos. She is cast as Yudhra’s love interest.

Will Yudhra be able to bust the drug racket? Are there any betrayals? Watch the movie to find out.

What works for Yudhra:

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say that Yudhra leaves an indelible mark with its jaw-dropping action sequences. These sequences are so intense, they’ll linger in your memory long after the film has ended. It’s safe to assert that the film’s action takes the crown as its most captivating aspect. Moving on to the music, it’s a breath of fresh air, with Saathiya being my personal favorite track. The camera work and cinematography are top-notch, making the movie an absolute visual treat.

What doesn’t work for Yudhra:

Despite its brief duration, Yudhra seems unnecessarily prolonged. The plot isn’t particularly original, and the narrative style fails to captivate. The film doesn’t hold your attention, and an engaging script is crucial for a movie like this. The dialogue feels contrived, and the unexpected turns are far from surprising; some even elicit laughter. The characters lack depth and dimension. If Yudhra had a more compelling story, its action sequences would have been more impactful.

Performances In Yudhra:

In simpler terms, Siddhant Chaturvedi plays his role admirably, showing great skill in action scenes. However, his emotional performances could have been more powerful. Malavika Mohanan as Nikhat delivers well, though the plot doesn’t offer her many opportunities to shine. Raghav Juyal as Shafiq is reliable. Ram Kapoor and Gajraj Rao perform as expected. Raj Arjun as Feroz, the drug mafia, stands out among the actors. The other supporting actors turn in solid performances.

Final Verdict of Yudhra:

Although Yudhra boasts impressive action scenes, its slow-moving and predictable plot leaves Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan’s movie somewhat disappointing.
