New Line unwrapped a sneak peek at Weapons in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

At CinemaCon, Warner Bros. studio took some time during their presentation at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum to display the eagerly awaited horror movie directed by Zach Cregger. This genre film features a star-studded cast that includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, June Diane Raphael, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, and Amy Madigan, among others.

At the Warner Bros. studio event at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum during CinemaCon, they showed off a horror movie directed by Zach Cregger that many people are excited to see. This film has a great cast including Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, June Diane Raphael, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, and Amy Madigan, among others.

Cregger personally presented the event, stepping onto the stage while keeping his remarks concise out of respect for the secretive plot twists in his “labyrinthine” film. “What we’re about to unveil is just the tip of the iceberg,” the director stated, hinting that the storyline evolves and transforms as it unfolds. He also emphasized that the CinemaCon teaser shown was unique and highly unlikely to be seen by the general public.

The video showcases a young girl’s voiceover, who shares intricate details about the plot centered around a teacher character named Garner, whose class of students inexplicably vanish one night. “Why is Mrs. Gandy’s room empty?” the girl asks, to which she answers, “Because every child woke up at 2:17 a.m., got out of bed, walked downstairs into the dark and never returned.

While a narration was heard, images depicted kids vanishing into the darkness, which left parents and townsfolk stunned and furious. This was evident in a gathering reminiscent of a town hall meeting, where Brolin’s character exclaimed, “I can’t grasp it at all! Why just her classroom? Why only hers?” Another resident questioned, “Where are our kids?” Later, a school official advised Garner’s teacher to maintain some distance from the scene as the investigation progressed.

The video proceeds by hinting that this is where the main story truly unfolds, staying faithful to Cregger’s promise of more to follow. “Weapons” serves as the sequel to Cregger’s successful debut “Barbarian”. As previously mentioned, Cregger himself penned the confidential script, which has been described as a horrifying saga interconnected across multiple stories, stylistically similar to “Magnolia”, the 1999 film by Paul Thomas Anderson that featured an ensemble cast. It revolves around the mysterious disappearance of students from a small town.

The project serves as a gathering of the Barbarian filmmaking crew, with Cregger working alongside Roy Lee from Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules from BoulderLight Pictures. Miri Yoon of Vertigo is also part of the production team. In January 2023, following a fierce bidding competition, New Line acquired it.

Every year, the meeting between cinema owners and Hollywood studios called CinemaCon takes place in Las Vegas. Previously known as the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), this organization has recently rebranded itself as Cinema United. This year’s event runs from March 31 to April 3.
