Zachary Levi, known for roles in shows like “Chuck” and “Shazam!”, prioritized supporting Donald Trump’s reelection bid as U.S. President over protecting his 25-year-long acting career. His political stance, which he openly declared on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” during the press tour for his latest film “The Unbreakable Boy,” seemingly outweighed any concerns about potential job losses in Hollywood. In simpler terms, Levi’s commitment to Trump overshadowed any apprehensions he might have had about losing work opportunities in the entertainment industry.
I found tranquility knowing that this matter was greater than my professional standing. It’s troubling how easily we slip into patterns of self-protection, and it’s not beneficial. We must be prudent, aiming for survival and prosperity, but we should not base our decisions solely on the hope of avoiding harm. Instead, one must sometimes give up…
At the heart of my concern lies this question: Am I ultimately risking a career in an industry that appears to be on the verge of collapse, one that may not provide me with opportunities in the near future? Frankly, it seems absurd. If my acting career were to vanish, though I fervently hope it won’t, it wouldn’t make much difference if the world is headed towards a precipice, would it?
In the end, Donald Trump emerged victorious in the election, assuming the role of the 47th President of the United States, having previously served as Commander-in-Chief from 2017 to 2021. Levi, a devoted supporter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., publicly endorsed Trump and declared at a rally in 2024: “We’re going to reclaim this nation.” Conversely, numerous figures from Hollywood, including Sebastian Stan and Sharon Stone, passionately doubted the prospect of Trump being elected as future president.
Zachary Levi Believes the Film Industry Is Cranking Out “Garbage”
It’s clear that Zachary Levi didn’t face cancellation following his support for Donald Trump during the 2020 U.S. Presidential campaign. However, his ties with the film industry were somewhat strained even before this event. During the 2023 strikes by the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Levi openly criticized Hollywood productions as “garbage,” at the Fan Expo Chicago.
Levi openly relies strongly on his religious beliefs and has always felt destined to lead, dating back to his childhood years. Consequently, it’s not surprising that he uses social media to share his thoughts on various important issues, whether political or otherwise. During a recent interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, Levi explained this by stating:
“I have always been deeply rooted in my faith and I believe I was born and chosen for leadership. This isn’t hidden; it’s part of who I am. So, it’s natural for me to express my views on important matters through social media.
When interacting with others, I take each interaction as a chance to convey something significant. In essence, there are people who might be wondering about the same thing but aren’t quite sure – seeking clarity. If I can help clarify, it often leads to someone saying, ‘Ah, now I understand that thing I saw and was puzzled by.’
Despite Levi not being canceled due to his political views, his recent works have received a lot of negative criticism from critics. For instance, the popular children’s book “Harold and the Purple Crayon” in 2024 scored only 27% on the Tomatometer out of 73 reviews posted on Rotten Tomatoes. Similarly, his latest movie “The Unbreakable Boy” has a RT rating of 48%, indicating that it’s not doing too well either.
Noteworthy to mention, the film adaptation of “Harold and the Purple Crayon” garnered favor among fans, even though some critics expressed doubts. Film enthusiasts assigned it an “A-” CinemaScore and a “Hot 90%” on the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score, previously known as the RT audience score. For those who appreciate Zachary Levi’s acting or can tolerate his political leanings aligned with Donald Trump, you might want to catch him along with co-stars Patricia Heaton and Jacob Laval in “The Unbreakable Boy,” which is currently screening in cinemas.
