Zayed Khan opens up on his dad Sanjay Khan and Zeenat Aman’s alleged relationship; ‘It wasn’t just at my dad’s house…’

As a fervent admirer of Bollywood’s bold and unconventional icons, I find myself consistently captivated by the enigmatic Zeenat Aman. Her life story, replete with daring choices and personal struggles, is a testament to her indomitable spirit.

For decades, the versatile actress Zeenat Aman has been acclaimed for her daring and unorthodox decisions, be it professionally or personally. One such instance was the speculated relationship with actor-director Sanjay Khan, who was then married to Zarine Khan. This high-profile romance, frequently discussed in tabloids, is said to have taken a dark turn when an argument in a hotel lobby resulted in Zeenat suffering a severe eye injury.

During a recent chat on Zoom, Zayed Khan – son of Sanjay Khan – looked back at those times, likening the Bollywood scene to the “unruly Wild West.” He pointed out that such controversies were quite common during the ’70s and ’80s, an era known for its larger-than-life and eccentric figures. The star of Main Hoon Na recalled that while many actors lived extravagantly, a select few maintained their sincerity and humility.

He stated that it wasn’t only at his father’s residence but was a common occurrence in every actor’s household. Nearly everyone was exceptionally quirky, with only a handful of individuals being genuinely down-to-earth; the rest… wow! As a child, I would often witness these individuals partying and sporting flashy Versace shirts, among other things. It was a completely different time back then. They were true personalities.

Apart from openly discussing her past challenges on social platforms, Aman shared an experience last year about a severe injury she sustained 40 years back. This injury not only affected her vision but also weakened the muscles surrounding her right eye, resulting in a permanent droop of her eyelid and reduced sight.

Fortunately, medical advancements have facilitated a significant improvement in her eyesight. Regardless of the harrowing experiences with physical abuse she’s endured, Zeenat decides to leave those traumatic recollections behind and concentrate on the current moment instead.

Zeenat’s openness about her personal struggles and her journey toward overcoming them clearly demonstrates her resilience, and it continues to inspire her followers. Her honest reflections on her past and her persistent efforts to enhance her well-being underscore her lasting strength and impact, not only in the film industry but also beyond it.

In a podcast conversation with Hrishikesh Kannan, Sanjay spoke up about charges made against him for striking Aman during a public occasion. He firmly stated that he had never physically hit her, instead labeling the allegations as an unforeseen “public relations attack.”

Concerning the allegations about his role in her eye injury, Khan maintained that it was a genetic issue and firmly believed the facts contradicted the accusations. He noted that Zeenat seemed to have flawless vision in the early ’80s, implying any later problems could be attributed to genetics from her mother. He vehemently denied the claims, likening them to an insult or blasphemy.

In a 1999 conversation on the Simi Garewal talk show, titled “Rendezvous with Simi Garewal,” Aman shared her account of enduring physical abuse. She revealed that, due to the passage of time, the recollection of the abusive incidents has mostly faded from her memory.

She mentioned that people often block out distressing events from their minds so they can disregard them as if they never happened, and make a vow to avoid their reoccurrence in the future. This, she explained, is how she manages to deal with her traumatic experiences.

In terms of her professional endeavors, you’ll soon spot Zeenat acting in a film titled “Bun Tikki,” which is directed by Manish Malhotra. She will be sharing the screen with esteemed actors Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol in this project.
