Zenless Zone Zero 2.1 Character and W-Engine Banners: Who to Pull For

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that on July 16, 2025, at 11 AM GMT+8, Zenless Zone Zero version 2.1, titled “The Impending Crash of Waves,” is set to splash down! Expect an avalanche of exciting events and rewards, plus the debut (or return) of characters along with their W-Engines, all drenched in summer vibes! And hey, some beloved characters will be sporting fresh, sun-kissed costumes too!

As an ardent follower, I’m eager to discover who the stars are that will grace us in phases 1 and 2 of this exciting update. Your guidance will be instrumental in helping me choose who to cheer for!

In the update Version 2.1, we’re introducing two fresh faces, Yuzuha and Alice, from the Spook Shack crew, along with the return of top-tier characters Miyabi and Yanagi from Hollow Special Operations Section 6. Each character boasts impressive abilities, making it a challenge to choose your favorites!

Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.1 – Character, W-Engine Banners, & Who To Pull For

As a player of Zenless Zone Zero, I share the anticipation and dilemma about the upcoming banners in version 2.1. Luckily, I’m less anxious because I’ve already obtained M2 Miyabi with her unique W-Engine. It’s worth considering whether to pull for Miyabi, given her powerful DPS capabilities, or if the other featured characters may be more valuable using your Polychromes.

Phase 1 – Ukinami Yuzuha

If you’re aiming to add a Physical Support character to your squad, consider including Yuzuha in your roster. She’s particularly beneficial for any Anomaly team compositions you might be working on. (Yuzuha is one of my top choices for this update.)

In simpler terms, Ukinami Yuzuha hails from Spook Shack, a fresh faction in Zenless Zone Zero, represented by the “Whispered Tales” banner. She’s a high-tier Support character who inflicts Physical damage. Her unique ability seems versatile as she can potentially enhance any team. When Yuzuha causes Candy Fright, her team receives a 37% attack boost, with the maximum enhancement being 1200 points from Yuzuha’s base attack. Additionally, her team’s damage is temporarily increased by 15%, lasting for 30 seconds. This bonus duration can be extended whenever the effect is triggered again.

She’s an excellent fit for any squad dealing with anomalies due to her extra skillset, and she performs well in most teams. Pairing her with characters such as Jane, Miyabi, Vivian, or indeed any character specializing in Anomalies would be beneficial. Her abilities are versatile, benefiting physical Anomaly teams, but also boosting all elements equally.

These are the characters with higher rates during her banner:

  • Ukinami Yuzuha – S-Rank (Physical, Support)
  • Piper Wheel – A-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
  • Billy Kid – A-Rank (Physical, Attack)

For the characters shown together on the same banner, Piper serves as a solid substitute for Jane. Her attack power is reasonable and it increases further when Yuzhaha is part of your team.

Yuzuha’s best-in-slot (BiS) W-Engine “Metanukimorphosis” will also be featured in its banner.

  • Metanukimorphosis – S-Rank (Support)
  • Roaring Ride – A-Rank (Anomaly)
  • Starlight Engine Replica – A-Rank (Attack)

Phase 1 – Hoshimi Miyabi

If you’re looking for a fantastic Ice Anomaly Damage Per Second character with high damage output, then Miyabi is definitely worth considering!

In the game Zenless Zone Zero, it’s widely believed that Miyabi has been the standout character due to her exceptional abilities. Her damage output is unmatched and can easily tackle most content, even when paired with suboptimal support characters. Given her performance, it’s advisable to upgrade her to M2 as this significantly enhances her capabilities.

  • Hoshimi Miyabi – S-Rank (Ice, Anomaly)
  • Piper Wheel – A-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
  • Billy Kid – A-Rank (Physical, Attack)

Obtaining Miyabi’s W-Engine could potentially prove to be one of my best acquisitions as it significantly amplifies the damage she deals. If you find yourself with some extra draws, I strongly recommend adding this to your collection.

  • Hailstorm Shrine – S-Rank (Anomaly)
  • Roaring Ride – A-Rank (Anomaly)
  • Starlight Engine Replica – A-Rank (Attack)

Phase 2 – Alice Thymefield

If you require a Physical Anomaly character instead of Jane, you might want to think about adding Alice to your team.

Alice Thymefield is part of the Spook Shack faction, depicted on her emblem with the motto “Sworn to Noble Courage.” Initially appearing effective as a secondary damage dealer (Sub-DPS) during the beta phase, she’s since been revamped for the role of a powerful primary damage dealer (Hypercarry DPS). Keep in mind that mastering her abilities and optimizing your playstyle will require additional effort.

In simple terms, Soukaku and Seth are fantastic characters. Soukaku enhances the attacking power of teams focused on ice elements, while Seth excels in anomaly teams. Therefore, acquiring their duplicates during a pull for Alice can only be beneficial.

  • *NEW! Alice Thymefield – S-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
  • Soukaku – A-Rank (Ice, Support)
  • Seth Lowell – A-Rank (Electric, Defense)

If you’re aiming for top performance with Alice, I’d suggest considering her “Practiced Perfection” W-Engine as it’s her best choice. Alternatively, there’s the A-Rank Electro-Lip Gloss W-Engine available for use.

  • *NEW! Practiced Perfection – S-Rank (Anomaly)
  • Bashful Demon – A-Rank (Support)
  • Peacekeeper – Specialized – A-Rank (Defense)

Phase 2 – Tsukishiro Yanagi

If you’ve got Miyabi, adding Yanagi to your collection is an excellent choice if you still have pull opportunities remaining. Notably, Yanagi works well with other characters like Burnice even without Miyabi.

Yanagi is an outstanding character from the Electric Anomaly faction, capable of inflicting substantial damage. Pairing her with Miyabi, another member from the same faction and Specialty, would be advantageous due to their synergy. Additionally, she can be effectively used with Trigger for stunning enemies or Burnice for off-field damage support.

  • Tsukishiro Yanagi – S-Rank (Electric, Anomaly)
  • Soukaku – A-Rank (Ice, Support)
  • Seth Lowell – A-Rank (Electric, Defense)

If you’re aiming to maximize Yanagi’s capabilities and make a substantial investment, it’s recommended that you acquire the W-Engine known as “Timeweaver” for her.

  • Timeweaver – S-Rank (Anomaly)
  • Bashful Demon – A-Rank (Support)
  • Peacekeeper – Specialized – A-Rank (Defense)
