In his latest film, “Magazine Dreams,” actor Jonathan Majors is expressing hope for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), having expressed interest in reprising the role of Kang the Conqueror. Previously, Kang was poised to become the MCU’s next major villain following Thanos. Majors initially introduced the character in “Loki” Season 1, where it was revealed that there are numerous variants who all submit to a single dominant version of Kang. A different variant made an appearance in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” though it may be best to overlook that film. Unfortunately, Majors’ contract with Marvel Studios was terminated following his conviction on two counts of misdemeanor harassment and reckless assault.

Speaking with USA Today about my upcoming project, Magazine Dreams, I couldn’t help but express my longing to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Absolutely, I would jump at the opportunity,” I shared. It goes without saying that my departure from the MCU left a mark on the fan community, with many acknowledging the reasons behind Marvel Studios’ decision, while others rallied behind the sentiment “innocent until proven guilty” online (which later proved to be true). Now, as I strive for a fresh start in Hollywood, overcoming my villainous MCU role is undeniably a significant challenge. I added:

As a passionate movie reviewer, let me share my feelings about Disney and Marvel Studios – they’re simply incredible! Working alongside talent like Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been an absolute joy. The camaraderie, the creativity, and the shared passion for storytelling in this industry have left me smitten. And now, finding myself in a position where I can return that love, it’s a feeling I cherish deeply.

Originally, Majors was slated to play the main antagonist in “Avengers: Kang Dynasty“. However, following his legal issues and dismissal from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the production team had to rethink their strategy. Kevin Feige called back Joe and Anthony Russo to direct “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Secret Wars“, which will now conclude the Multiverse Saga. Instead of Majors, Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the MCU, taking on the role of Dr. Doom as the new primary villain.

Another Actor Could Take Over as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but ponder over the situation surrounding Jonathan Majors and his potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Given his desire for his previous role, it seems like a distant dream considering the recent guilty verdict and the surfacing of an audio recording. The MCU, in my view, might choose to steer clear of reinstating Majors as Kang the Conqueror due to the public relations quagmire such a decision could create.

The studio would face a significant backlash from fans if they were to cast Majors in any future film. The gravity of his convictions has sparked a groundswell of opposition among many viewers, and it’s hard to ignore their sentiments. The potential boycott of any movie he is associated with could pose a significant challenge for the studio.

After Majors was let go by Marvel, there were many discussions online suggesting that a new actor might step into his role, as Marvel Studios apparently still plans to utilize Kang the Conqueror in upcoming projects. Colman Domingo was a popular choice among fans, and it’s been reported he even met with Marvel Studios about joining their universe. However, Domingo clarified that during these discussions, there was never any mention of him playing Kang. Just as the future of Kang remains unclear, so does Majors’ role in the MCU.
