Dear friends, I have the most marvelous news to share with you all. Ripple, that esteemed blockchain company from San Francisco, has seen fit to mint a further 1 million RLUSD tokens. One can only assume that their coffers were feeling a tad bare, and thus, they have replenished their stores with this additional influx of digital doubloons.
But, of course, this is not the first time Ripple has indulged in such profligacy. Earlier this month, they minted a whopping 2 million RLUSD tokens, no less. And let us not forget that their dollar-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, has been doing swimmingly, having surpassed a market cap of $100 million in January. Truly, a feat worthy of celebration, don’t you agree, dear reader?
And celebrate, they did. Ripple’s CEO, the inimitable Brad Garlinghouse, was over the moon, while Jack McDonald, their SVP of stablecoins, waxed poetic about the “amazing traction” stablecoins have gained. One can almost hear the champagne corks popping in the background.
As of now, RLUSD boasts a market cap of a mere $110 million, a trifling sum, really. But fear not, dear investor, for Ripple’s President, Monica Long, assures us that trust and compliance are the watchwords of the day. And what better way to demonstrate this than by bridging traditional finance with blockchain? Genius, pure genius, I say.
And, if you’re itching to get in on the action, fear not, dear reader. RLUSD has already been listed on exchanges like Bitstamp, with more listings on the horizon. The recent AMMClawback amendment on the XRP Ledger has also given RLUSD the green light to participate in decentralized finance (DeFi) pools, because, as we all know, one can never have too much of a good thing.
But, I must confess, dear reader, that I do find it all a bit…dizzying. The RLUSD stablecoin went live on global exchanges on December 17, 2024, after receiving regulatory approval from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). And now, the XRP/RLUSD pool holds a staggering $1.3 million in liquidity. Truly, a sum fit for a king (or a stablecoin, at the very least).
