As a seasoned fashion enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this year’s FASHION ASIA HONG KONG event has left me utterly impressed. The innovative approach to blend performance and style, as seen through the collaborations between featured designers and Clockenflap artists, is a game-changer in the fashion world.
The fashion world in Asia is swiftly changing and setting trends that extend well beyond its borders. With its vibrant style, Hong Kong, a significant cultural trendsetter, has left an indelible mark on global fashion markets. Its influence can be seen in popular styles like preppy attire or contemporary minimalism.
From 2016 onwards, FASHION ASIA HONG KONG, organized by the Hong Kong Design Center and funded by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), has celebrated the inventive fashion scene by gathering influential figures in the industry, including top Asian designers. This year, one of the main events showcased was the 10 Asian Designers to Watch Exhibition, which shone a light on the collaborative efforts and emerging talent of many promising trendsetters.
From November 29 to December 1, the “10 Asian Designers to Watch” event, which highlights local design talent, was held. This year, the program broke away from its usual presentation style by teaming up with Clockenflap for a unique multi-sensory collaboration. The exhibit, called “SOUNDSTITCH,” combined fashion and music through designer Sound Diaries, carefully chosen designs, and other interactive features.
2021 showcased an impressive lineup for “10 Rising Asian Designers to Observe”, featuring Grace Ling, Juntae Kim, KWK by Kay Kwok, Markgong, Oude Waag, Raxxy, Ruohan, Setchu, tanakadaisuke and YA YI. Each of these creators showcased distinctive perspectives in their avant-garde designs that challenge norms and surpass presumptions.

Through this initial collaboration, chosen artists performing at Clockenflap were given the opportunity to be styled by renowned designers, creating a fusion between their stage presence and personal style. Performers such as Hong Kong’s Jer Lau from SETCHU, Thai artist Violette Wautier of Ponder.er., Hong Kong collective R.O.O.T, and Korean rock star MEMI in Feng Chen Wang were among those dressed by the designers.
On November 29th, the Fashion Challenges Forum took place, with the grand opening ceremony for the “10 Asian Designers To Watch” exhibition following on November 30th. Delve into the vibrant realm of FASHION ASIA HONG KONG and uncover further details at fashionasiahk.com.
