I must admit, the cameos in movies can be quite the delight, adding a dash of excitement and a sprinkle of nostalgia to the mix. And Anderson Cooper, with his silver-tongued reporting and sharp wit, would certainly add a touch of class to any production he graces with his presence.
For more than fifteen years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has held a significant influence over popular culture. Consequently, many notable figures have aspired to join the action. However, fame isn’t always beneficial for a film. At times, it can even become a hindrance, serving as a potential distraction.
The subsequent scenes contain cameos. These aren’t necessarily poor, but they can be slightly disruptive when viewing the movie. It’s worth noting that with one exception (which garnered a lot of attention before its film’s release), credit scene cameos will not be discussed, only those that interfere with the continuity of the movie’s storyline.
10 Elon Musk
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Widely considered the weakest entry of Phase One, Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 receives a lot of undue hate. It’s not as thematically strong as the franchise kickstarter, and it can be overstuffed at times, but the later phases’ poorest movies have allowed its status to be somewhat reevaluated. But Elon Musk’s cameo is certainly one element that’s gotten worse, not better.
But, Why?
In more recent times, Elon Musk has garnered more controversy than ever before. As a result, even those who were unfamiliar with him in 2010 are now well-informed. When they revisit this sequel, his cameo is bound to stand out conspicuously.
9 Bill Maher & Joan Rivers
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Just like Iron Man 2 didn’t receive the recognition it deserved, Iron Man 3 was excessively praised. The fire-breathing scene from the villain certainly lessened the odd impact of Whiplash’s bird fixation. However, it does present a clearer identity, even if that identity is another Shane Black film set during Christmas (albeit one within the MCU).
At Least the Rivers Cameo Makes Sense
The only time it loses a bit of that identity, as a singular director’s unique vision for an MCU movie, is when Bill Maher and Joan Rivers show up to talk about Don Cheadle’s Iron Patriot. It’s a case of “Wait, does the MCU have the same celebrities as our reality?” And that case is not a one-and-done on this list. Though, to its credit, having the late Rivers talk about Iron Patriot’s gaudy design is on the money.
8 David Hasselhoff
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Ego the Living Planet serves as a memorable MCU antagonist, largely due to Kurt Russell’s charming portrayal. Although it would be great if he were to reappear in some capacity, even if he doesn’t, his presence left an impact. A villain with a significant relationship to the main characters, such as one who is their father and seeks to exploit them for his power, adds depth to the storyline.
A Solid Callback
And, even though he’s been out of Peter Quill’s life for its entirety, Ego sure knows how to get under his skin. For instance, turning himself into Quill’s childhood hero: David Hasselhoff (Zardu Hasselfrau). Given Quill’s love for the ’80s and Ego’s logical ability to alter his own appearance, it’s a cameo that both works within the film’s logic and is clever, but for a moment it is technically a distraction.
7 Matt Damon & Sam Neill
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Refreshing change for the MCU brought about by Taika Waititi in “Thor: Ragnarok” – this film showcases the Marvel universe perfectly meshing with the director’s unique style. Notably, it features a well-known actor portraying a well-known Asgardian character, though he might be more accurately described as a semi-famous Asgardian character.
At Least It’s Funny the First Time
It was quite amusing to see Matt Damon portray Loki on stage, similar humor came from Chris Hemsworth’s brother, Luke, playing Thor. However, the icing on-the most brilliant touch is the casting of Sam Neill (who collaborated with Waititi on last year’s fantastic Hunt for the Wilderpeople) as the play’s storyteller. His role was perfectly suitable and added a comical aside to the film’s plot (rather functioning as a recap of the previous film’s events).
6 Joe Russo
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Despite being an extraordinary spectacle that it might be challenging for the MCU to surpass in the future, Avengers: Endgame is not without its imperfections. For example, the brief appearance of Joe Russo’san’9363; one oftongleaving a cameo in the film was an effort to enhance LGBTQ representation, but unfortunately, he is married to a woman in real life. This sibling duo has significantly contributed not only to some of the MCU’s most successful films but also to its finest productions, including Endgame.
A Clunky Inclusion
During a counseling session with Captain America, his guest (Joe’s character) brings up a man he had been meeting with, sparking curiosity about why the Russo Brothers chose not to cast an openly LGBTQ individual for this role instead.
5 Wong & Abomination
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
The peak moments of Phase Four’s motion picture production, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” truly shine when it emphasizes familial bonds. Notably, this film marks a significant milestone as it’s Marvel Studios’ initial production starring predominantly an Asian cast. Additionally, the inclusion of Doctor Strange’s character, Wong, seems to be more about enriching the cultural context rather than strictly adhering to the storyline’s progression.
Basically Just There to Set Up She-Hulk
Attorney at Law than it does as an essential scene in the movie where it occurs.
4 Harry Styles
Eternals (2021)
The film seemed to generate more buzz prior to its release compared to during its opening weekend. It had been suggested that it could potentially challenge for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s second Academy Award for Best Picture nomination contender contender contender contendercamee contest. However, Harry Styles seemed poised to be a standout feature with pop star turned actor Harry Styles among its notable cameos. However, its first “Rotten” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it received a “Rotten” rating, which was a first for the franchise’s.
And It Still Became the MCU’s First True Box Office Disappointment
They purchased a ticket specifically to observe Styles. The wait was prolonged. He didn’t reveal any significant improvement, and it wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the study sequence that this that failed- Eternment sequence, making the experiment, it’s weren’t, and it wasn’t particularly notable in the research findings.
3 Matt Damon, Sam Neill & Melissa McCarthy
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Almost everything Thor: Resurgence of Ragnarok rises up to 11 and dismantles. Fortunately, thanks to Melissa McCarthy’s expertise, the sequel’s Asgardian actor scene aligns with that resurgence. However, luckily, her brief tenure as Hela exceeds its necessity.
Too Much of a Good Thing?
Even though it may seem like a Thor, the movie doesn’t exactly require a cameo for Matt Damon or Luke Hemsworth. Particularly,,, it has already premiered, the film has long since returned, and beyond, especially, it’s already had already made room of course, once it’s Matt Damon’s Matt Damon’s Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth’s Asgardian characters are now fully immersed. Overdoing it is the reprisal of Matt Damon, a friendly face to behold. Of course, but the movie doesn’t necessitate a cameo cameo or require a cameo anymore.
2 Anderson Cooper
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
It was hard to know where the Black Panther franchise would go after the untimely passing of the great Chadwick Boseman. But Black Panther: Wakanda Forever put fan worry to rest with its serious tone and respect for the departed performer. It wasn’t all dreary, though the scene with CNN’s Anderson Cooper was not a light one.
DCEU Meets the MCU
In a similar vein as Wolf Blitzer in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and Larry King in “Ghostbusters,” Cooper portrayed himself, showcasing his skills, which leaves one ponderingly, making us wondering if the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Universe Unified by playing himself. This brief, but it makes you wonder if the MCU’s reality mirrors ours. Furthermore, this leads to questioning if the MCU and DCEU share the same continuity, given his appearance in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It’s best not to overthink these intertwined universes.
1 The Illuminati
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
The movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity, showcasing impressive visual effects and Elizabeth Olsen’s captivating performance, was a significant success for Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth phase, primarily in terms of financial returns. However, but it garnered mixed reactions from fans’s The Dark Crisis notew DCEin the Multiverse of Madness. In regard to fan response, it received a more diverse range of opinions.
Here and Gone
It wasn’t unexpected that the film became a financial hit, given its initial premise boasted appearances from beloved characters similar to those in Avengers: Endgame Endgame>. However, however, but bewarehouse, one should exercise caution is a bitters might have— in this moviegoes, be cautious about what you ask for. Unfortunately, the Illuminati (Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier, John Krasinski’s Reed Richards, Lashana Lynch’s Captain Marvel, Anson Mount’s Black Bolt, and Hayley Atwell’s’s Captain Carter) didn’s did not contributed more or less delivered more than just didn’s, instead mainly served more than merely spoke a lot of little significance, as they primarily provided a great deal of background information before meeting their untimely ends.
