‘Snow White‘
March 21, 2025
Starting from the 2010s, Disney has been producing live-action versions of their original animated masterpieces, a decision that has sparked strong opinions among Disney enthusiasts. While some are thrilled to watch familiar characters and tales brought to life on the cinema screen, others argue these adaptations are just uninspired reductions. No matter which side you’re on in this discussion, it’s worth knowing that Snow White is the latest live-action adaptation from Disney, inspired by the 1937 classic that began the enchantment.
Initially, when Walt Disney, an emerging animator, declared his intention to create the first full-length traditionally animated movie, people laughed it off. The skepticism grew as details about the film’s extravagant budget and frequent setbacks were revealed, earning it the nickname “Disney’s folly.” However, contrary to expectations, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs turned out to be a resounding success, setting the blueprint for Disney’s business strategy that has endured till today.
Similar to its animated version, the upcoming 2025 film adaptation of Snow White has stirred up quite a storm of controversy and production issues. It’s as gripping as a car crash – you don’t want to watch it, but you can’t tear your eyes away. The movie seems almost fated for failure. On March 21, 2025, we will discover whether Disney’s Snow White will buck the trend and silence all the skeptics once more.

‘Lilo & Stitch’
May 23, 2025
The film titled “Lilo & Stitch” deviates from the usual Disney formula. Instead of following traditional storylines, it tells the tale of a mischievous blue extraterrestrial named Stitch (voiced by Chris Sanders), who lands on Earth in one of its most beautiful locations – Hawaii. Here, he forms an unlikely friendship with a young girl named Lilo (Daveigh Chase). This friendship kick-starts a series of unconventional escapades for the duo. In the post-Disney Renaissance period, which was marked by difficulty in producing both commercial and critically acclaimed hits, “Lilo & Stitch” stood out as a triumph. Since its release in 2002, Lilo and Stitch have become beloved Disney characters, making a live-action adaption inevitable.
In 2025, a fresh take on the 2002 animated classic “Lilo & Stitch” is set to premiere. Chris Sanders returns as the voice of Stitch, whose CGI representation maintains the original character’s likeness. Original cast members including Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee are also part of this production. The live-action adaptation has generated much anticipation among fans, and it is scheduled to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.

‘Elio’
June 20, 2025
At last, a fresh cinematic experience to look forward to! In this instance, Pixar switches gears from their typical fantasy tales towards science fiction with their upcoming solo production, titled “Elio“. This film revolves around a young boy named Elio who unintentionally assumes the role of Earth’s intergalactic ambassador and must now engage with various alien species. The movie stars Yonas Kibreab, Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett, Zoe Saldaña, and Shirley Henderson. “Elio” promises a plethora of peculiar and offbeat characters (similar to those in “Monsters Inc.“).
Given that we’re discussing a Pixar film, it’s likely you might want to prepare some tissues for a couple of emotional moments. Originally slated for release on March 1, 2024, the movie titled “Elio” has been pushed back to June 20, 2025, primarily due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and other internal modifications at Pixar. Let’s hope these production delays don’t signal trouble for “Elio”.

‘Tron: Ares’
October 10, 2025
Back in 1982, Disney released a groundbreaking sci-fi adventure film titled Tron, which has since become a beloved cult favorite. Fast forward almost three decades, and Disney followed up with a sequel called Tron: Legacy. Exciting news for Tron enthusiasts: On October 10, 2025, we can expect the third installment in the series, titled Tron: Ares.
As a passionate cinephile, I’d say:
In the digital realm I inhabit, I find myself drawn to “Tron: Ares,” a captivating spin-off that unfolds a thrilling narrative. This time around, it’s about an advanced Program venturing into our physical world on a perilous quest. The star-studded ensemble includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Cameron Monaghan. And in a delightful twist, Jeff Bridges steps back into the role he brilliantly portrayed in the original films.

‘Zootopia 2’
November 26, 2025
In a unique twist for Disney animation, Zootopia can be seen as their most convincing attempt at creating a buddy cop film. This animated masterpiece, set in a contemporary city inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, was an incredible hit both critically and commercially. It earned the prestigious Oscar for Best Animated Feature and raked in over a billion dollars globally. Considering its unprecedented success, it’s not surprising that Disney has given the go-ahead for a sequel. Zootopia 2, due out later this year, is quite extraordinary given how little information we’ve received about it so far.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the sequel I can’t wait for continues the tale of my beloved characters, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from the original. They’re diving headfirst into a fresh case involving a baffling reptile! Ginnifer Goodwin will once again lend her voice to Judy, while Jason Bateman returns as the smooth-talking Nick. Joining them in this star-studded cast are Ke Huy Quan and Shakira, adding their talents to the mix. Can’t wait to see what adventures await!

‘Hoppers’
March 6, 2026
It’s unfortunate that we had to wait nearly halfway through the article to learn about another innovative movie, but that seems to be the trend with Disney nowadays. The film “Hoppers” explores a groundbreaking scientific breakthrough – the ability to transfer human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, enabling humans to communicate with animals as if they were of their own kind.
As a cinephile who’s always been captivated by animal tales, I’d say that the narrative in question centers around a passionate animal enthusiast named Mabel. Using advanced technology, she delves into the enigmas hidden within the animal kingdom. In terms of casting, ‘Hoppers’ boasts an impressive roster with Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, and Jon Hamm lending their voices to the characters. This Pixar production is currently a solo venture, but if it manages to rake in a cool billion, we might just see a sequel. For now, ‘Hoppers’ stands as an original, independent film, offering a refreshing breeze on this cinematic journey.

Toy Story 5″
In this new installment, our beloved Toy Story characters will once again grace the screen as they tackle a fresh danger to their world – technology. Fan favorites Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are set to reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz Lightyear respectively. Although some fans believed that the series should’ve concluded with Toy Story 3, the intriguing and contemporary theme of Toy Story 5 is expected to draw audiences back to theaters in droves.

‘Moana’
July 10, 2026
Disney is currently enjoying the success that comes with the surge of popularity for Moana. Coming up in Fall 2024, we have the much-awaited sequel to the animated film, titled Moana 2. Furthermore, in July 2026, audiences will get a live-action adaptation of the 2016 original. Making her screen debut as the main character is Catherine Lagaʻaia, and Dwayne Johnson will be seen sporting a wig to reprise his role as Maui in the live-action version.
Though certain enthusiasts argue that the remake is premature, others eagerly anticipate the adaptation of this Polynesian legend onto the big screen. However, we can’t help but wonder: what necessitates The Rock wearing a bodysuit as Maui?
2
‘Frozen III’
November 24, 2027
The movie “Frozen” was a massive hit for Disney, with both adults and children singing the catchy tune “Let It Go.” This film is one of Disney’s most lucrative and critically acclaimed productions ever made. Praised as Disney’s best work since their iconic Renaissance period, “Frozen” earned over a billion dollars at the box office and won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It didn’t take Disney long to recognize the potential of this success. They quickly transformed “Frozen” into a multimedia empire, including a Broadway musical, TV specials, animated shorts, and naturally, sequels as well.
2019 saw the premiere of “Frozen II,” and the third installment in the series, titled “Frozen III,” is scheduled for release on November 24, 2027. At present, details about the movie are scarce, but one thing is certain: much like its predecessors, “Frozen III” is expected to rake in a considerable sum of money.
