As a lifestyle expert who has spent years delving into the intricacies of Bollywood and its captivating tales, I must say that the story behind the iconic hook step of Twist from Love Aaj Kal is truly fascinating. It’s remarkable to learn that it took Saif Ali Khan 47 attempts to perfect a single move in the song, which eventually made it to the final cut on the third try.

One of Imtiaz Ali’s most acclaimed films is undeniably Love Aaj Kal, which premiered in 2019 and continues to captivate audiences with its enchanting plot and timeless music. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, the film is remembered for iconic tracks like “Twist,” whose dance move swept the nation. Now, on the 15th anniversary of Love Aaj Kal, we share an intriguing piece of trivia about the effort put into creating this masterpiece.

When Saif Ali Khan had to take 47 steps to ace hook step of Twist song

As a devoted film aficionado, I can’t forget the thrill of grooving to the timeless track “Twist,” which graced Saif Ali Khan on screen. This iconic tune is from Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, with Neeraj Shridhar lending his voice and Pritam crafting the melody. The profound lyrics were penned by Irshad Kamil and Style Bhai, while the unforgettable hookstep was brilliantly conceived by the legendary choreographer Bosco Martis.

In the year 2020, Martis posted a fun fact on his social media account, which included a video of him dancing and mastering the hook steps for a popular song. He also disclosed an interesting detail in the caption, explaining that they needed 47 attempts to get those steps right. Remarkably, the third take was the one that ended up in the final cut.

He shared, “Twist Trivia – It required 47 attempts to nail this move, and unfortunately, we didn’t do well on the 3rd try (Showing frustration with hands). I apologize, Saif Ali Khan, for putting you through this ordeal. #LiveToDance #DanceWithBosco #TwistLoveAajkal @imtiazaliofficial, thank you for making this happen (Sending a heartfelt thanks with a red-heart emoji).”

The success of the movie is evident since its creators decided to release a sequel after an eleven-year gap, featuring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan in 2021. However, despite the appealing music and catchy title for the second part, the film didn’t do well financially at the box office.

Imtiaz Ali reveals his plans on making Love Aaj Kal 3
