Star Wars announced three new sequels coming to the galaxy far, far away in 2025.
Following a year filled with innovative concepts for the cherished sci-fi franchise, such as Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte debuting on Disney+ in 2024, Star Wars plans to spend most of 2025 by releasing sequels to several titles from the past couple of years.
At the biannual Star Wars Celebration held in Tokyo, Japan during April, some of these were initially revealed – an event where representatives from the Star Wars universe gather to disclose the upcoming titles enriching the Lucasfilm collection.
Every Star Wars Sequel Coming in 2025
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld
The new addition to the Star Wars Tales series is the forthcoming title, “Star Wars: Yarns from the Criminal Realm”.
This animated show explores various distinct aspects of a distant galaxy, with earlier seasons focusing on the Jedi and the Empire (released in 2023 and 2024 respectively).
In simpler terms, “Tales of the Underworld” will offer viewers a peek into the world of intense criminal activities within the Star Wars universe. The storyline primarily revolves around some roguish characters from the franchise, who are entangled in the most notorious criminal activities depicted in the series.
The six-episode series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ this coming May 4 (known as Star Wars Day), and it will delve into the stories of beloved animated characters Cad Bane and Asajj Ventress. Additionally, a new Jedi-hunting Inquisitor is set to make an appearance in the show, marking the 16th such character in the franchise’s history.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past
Lucasfilm is planning to return to its building block-focused productions this year, as they prepare for the launch of “LEGO Star Wars: Building a Galactic History: Pieces of the Past“.
Pieces of the Past serves as a direct sequel to last year’s LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, where an intriguing artifact called The Cornerstone, discovered, caused quite a stir in the Star Wars universe by intertwining its timeline into this fascinating amalgamation of the franchise.
In continuation of the previous tale, we find ourselves delving deeper into the LEGO Star Wars saga with Pieces of the Past, as it explores the aftermath of the show’s nail-biting cliffhanger over the course of an additional four episodes.
This innovation was initially revealed at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, and it’s scheduled to make its premiere on Disney+ in September.
Star Wars Visions Season 3
For Star Wars enthusiasts, the idea of additional “Star Wars Visions” is certainly thrilling, but the plans for “Visions” Season 3 in particular are something worth celebrating.
In this upcoming season of the out-of-canon anthology series, many original tales created by Japanese animation studios will be showcased, similar to the exceptional Star Wars: Visions episodes (for more on them, click here). Notably, several episodes in this new installment are going to be direct sequels to earlier ones.
Three upcoming stories in this latest collection will continue the narratives introduced in Season 1. Among them are “The Duel: Payback,” a follow-up to “The Duel”; “The Lost Ones,” a sequel to “The Village Bride”; and “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope,” a continuation of “The Ninth Jedi.
These new Star Wars: Visions stories will come to Disney+ on October 29, 2025.
Bonus: Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi
In addition to that, the upcoming Star Wars sequel, titled “Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi“, serves as an extra treat but remains thrilling. The space-based franchise will continue its sequel journey up to 2026 by releasing this new installment.
In an exciting development, the unique “Visions” spin-off series has been unveiled as a groundbreaking addition to the franchise. It expands upon the narrative of the first season episode from Production IG’s studio, titled “The Ninth Jedi”, providing a comprehensive storyline.
So far, details about the upcoming limited series remain scarce; nonetheless, it’s anticipated that it will hit screens around the year 2026. The narrative will continue from where the initial Ninth Jedi episode left off and follow into the forthcoming Child of Hope sequel, both slated for release in Season 3 of Visions.
