Rashmika Mandanna is indisputably a star who captivates audiences across India, first winning hearts in the South and then moving into Bollywood. Known for her roles in films like Pushpa series, Dear Comrade, Kirik Party, and more, she made her Hindi film debut alongside Sidharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu. Subsequently, she worked with top Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
Her charm has left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema, earning her the title of ‘National Crush’ at one point. If you’re among her many dedicated fans, these are some movies you should definitely watch.
1. Mission Majnu (2023)
In a different phrasing: Rashmika Mandanna’s first movie was Mission Majnu, alongside Sidharth Malhotra. But due to production and release delays, her second film, Goodbye, came out ahead of time. Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, the period film (set in the ’70s) revolves around Amandeep Ajitpal Singh, disguised as Tariq (played by Malhotra), embarking on a mission in Pakistan to uncover a nuclear weapons program.
In Goodbye, Mandanna takes on the role of Nasreen, who is unaware of the mission and adds intrigue every time she appears with her portrayal of a visually impaired girl. The suspenseful movie premiered on Netflix.
Moreover, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, Avijit Dutt, Parmeet Sethi, Shishir Sharma, among others, will be playing significant parts.
2. Goodbye (2022)
The movie Goodbye directed by Vikas Bahl unfolds the tale of a family following the demise of Neena Gupta’s character Gayatri. Her husband Haris, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, and their children grapple with her loss in various ways. In this film, Rashmika Mandanna plays Tara, a spirited and independent lawyer. Her unconventional attitude towards her family creates the narrative’s tone. She adds a refreshing touch alongside Pavail Gulati, Sahil Mehta, Elli Avram, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Abhishekh Khan.
3. Animal (2023)
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but exclaim my excitement over “Animal,” the musical sensation that shattered box office records by raking in a staggering Rs 885 crores worldwide! This action-drama masterpiece, rated A, spotlights the captivating father-son duo portrayed by none other than Ranbir Kapoor (Ranvijay Singh) and the legendary Anil Kapoor. Guiding these powerhouse performances is the brilliant directorial vision of Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
In the intricate tapestry of this gripping story, it’s hard to ignore the pivotal role played by Geetanjali, the character embodied by the Thama actress. She serves as a beacon of stability and calm amidst the stormy plot, demonstrating practicality and impartiality that adds depth to the narrative. Moreover, some of the most cherished songs in the film are beautifully picturized around her character, enhancing her charm and allure.
4. Chhaava (2025)
Up next is another critically acclaimed film, titled “Chhaava.” Released this year and directed by Laxman Utekar, it’s based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Mandanna portrayed Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale, a strong female character who inspired Sambhaji Maharaj to fight valiantly against his adversaries.
Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Viineet Kumar Siingh, Diana Penty, Divya Dutta, and others took on significant roles in the film. Produced by Maddock Films, “Chhaava” garnered immense success with its global box office collection reaching approximately Rs 783 crore worldwide.
5. Sikandar (2025)
Closing the list is the film “Sikandar,” starring none other than Salman Khan, alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Despite high expectations, the movie directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala received a modest reception at the box office, grossing approximately Rs 177 crore worldwide.
The plot revolves around Salman Khan’s character, lovingly known as ‘Sikandar,’ inspired by Sanjay Rajkot from Rajkot. A series of events take an unexpected turn when Sikandar gets embroiled with a corrupt minister and his spoiled son. The rest of the story unfolds for you to discover.
Rashmika portrays the role of Sikandar’s wife, Saishri, who secretly shields him from danger.
In addition to Salman Khan, the film features Sathyraj, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles.
On the professional front, Rashmika is preparing for her entry into Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe. She will be starring alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in “Thama,” directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and also featuring Paresh Rawal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, among others.
“Thama,” written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, is scheduled for release on the grand occasion of Diwali 2025. The film’s announcement was made last year in October. This vampire love story will compete with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s musical-drama at the box office.
