As a voracious reader and audiobook enthusiast with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the list you’ve provided is a treasure trove for bookworms like myself. Each title promises an immersive journey into captivating worlds filled with intrigue, adventure, and suspense.
When I express my fondness for audiobooks, I’m speaking from experience. Despite being an occasional subscriber of Audible for many years, my reading habit has intensified significantly in recent times. There’s something genuinely enjoyable about having a well-narrated book playing through my earphones, especially when I’m juggling tasks and can’t sit down with a physical book or e-reader.
You might know that an audiobook is now included monthly with an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, thanks to their partnership with Audible. This perk is accessible to individual plan subscribers as well as the main account holders of family plans. With this in mind, I thought I’d suggest a few excellent audiobooks (some revisited) that have recently captured my attention, and interestingly enough, are slated for adaptation into movies or TV series.
Project Hail Mary
Author: Andy Weir
In the midst of a catastrophic global crisis, schoolteacher Ryland Grace awakens from a coma to discover himself aboard a spaceship. At first, he can’t recall how he ended up there. If you enjoyed Andy Weir’s novel, “The Martian,” then you’ll undoubtedly be captivated by his 2021 work, titled “Project Hail Mary,” as part of the narrative revolves around Ryland unraveling the mystery of his situation.
Why the audiobook is a must-listen: Even if you’ve already read Project Hail Mary, if you haven’t checked out the audiobook, I highly recommend it. Heck, even if you’ve already listened to it, I recommend listening to it again (I listened to it for a second time earlier this year and enjoyed it even more than the first). The mystery of Ryland’s circumstances unfolds in an exciting and truly entertaining way, and Ray Porter’s narration is great. Ryan Gosling will play the lead character in the movie adaptation of Project Hail Mary, which is expected to hit theaters in 2026.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Author: J.K. Rowling
At age 11, a young lad discovers he’s a wizard and is admitted into Hogwarts to master magic alongside other magical beings. This sets the stage for an extraordinary saga, where we watch Harry Potter, along with his companions Ron and Hermione, mature year by year, as the narrative unfolds. Besides navigating the intricacies of sorcery, they frequently confront the malevolent intentions of the dark wizard Voldemort and his followers, who seek to reclaim their lost power.
Why the audiobook is a must-listen: Two words: Jim, Dale. The Harry Potter audiobooks are an experience in and of themselves, even if you’ve read the books already. Jim Dale’s narration sets the standard for what a great audiobook can be. As narrator to all seven audiobooks, Dale shifts voices (and sometimes accents) among characters to great effect, and brings the story to life at a perfect pace. While we wait for the planned Harry Potter TV series, you could always watch the original Harry Potter movie adaptations, but I suggest you check out the audiobooks for the beloved magical series.

A Court Of Thorns And Roses (2015)
Author Profile: Sarah J. Maas is the pen name for a popular fantasy and romance author, known particularly for her captivating works in the genre of “Romantasy”. The initial installment of one of her series is an audiobook that spans over 16 hours in length, setting the stage for a rich and immersive listening experience.
Title Overview: The first book in a continuous series by Sarah J. Maas, titled “A Court of Thorns and Roses“, revolves around the life of a young human woman named Feyre. After unintentionally slaying a fae creature (a wolf) in her village’s woods, she is compelled to abandon her home and reside in Prythian as retribution. The initial story bears some similarities to “Beauty and the Beast“, but the expansive narrative that unfolds across subsequent books develops into a unique tale of its own. Throughout this series, you’ll encounter captivating characters, thrilling adventures, and an intense, romantic (and perhaps suggestive) relationship.
Why the audiobook is a must-listen: The audiobooks for this series are great. In fact, it seems only fair to warn you that if you do fall hard for this series, buckle up and clear your schedule. Some of Maas’ books are long (A Court of Wings and Ruin crosses the 700-page mark, and the 25-hour mark for the audiobook). Narrated by Jennifer Ikeda, Amanda Leigh Cobb, and most recently Stina Nielsen, the audiobooks’ lengths vary. But if your experience is anything like mine, you won’t want them to end. And you probably do have time to listen through all of the released book in the series so far, as it might be a while before we see the planned Court of Thorns and Roses TV adaptation happen.

Verity (2018)
Title Author: Colleen Hoover
Title Topic: Verity revolves around a writer named Lowen who is employed to complete a series of books by renowned author Verity, following her incapacitation. As Lowen works on these novels, she discovers an autobiography written by Verity that contains startling revelations about the woman whose literary world Lowen now inhabits.
Here’s one way to rephrase the text while maintaining its meaning:

The Testaments (2019)
Title Author: Margaret Atwood
In a Nutshell: Margaret Atwood, decades after publishing “The Handmaid’s Tale”, wrote “The Testaments”, a sequel set in the same oppressive society. The narrative unfolds from three viewpoints: Aunt Lydia’s and two young women’s, one residing in Canada and the other in Gilead. If you’re intrigued, delve into the details yourself!
Why the audiobook is a must-listen: To be clear, you definitely want to read The Handmaid’s Tale before checking out The Testaments, but since we’re focusing on upcoming adaptations, and there’s a TV series planned, I want to talk about The Testaments audiobook. I’m not automatically enticed by audiobooks narrated by famous actors, but I absolutely love the narration on this one, and that’s a credit to the three primary narrators. Ann Dowd, who plays Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid’s Tale, is obviously a perfect fit to voice Aunt Lydia’s perspective, and Bryce Dallas Howard and Mae Whitman are equally outstanding as the other two main narrators.

Fairy Tale (2022)
Author: Stephen King, renowned writer in the Fantasy and Supernatural genre.
Title Synopsis:
Here’s why you shouldn’t miss out on this audiobook: I wanted to end with something by Stephen King as there are usually exciting adaptations of his works coming up, and since I read Fairy Tale from my To-Be-Read list earlier this year, it’s fresh in my mind. But it’s not just recency that makes it stand out for me. This story is an amazing journey from beginning to end, and it’s the kind of tale that suits audiobook listening perfectly. Seth Numrich is the main narrator for the audiobook, and listeners will also get to hear Stephen King’s voice at a crucial point in the story. It’s a wonderful addition to an already excellent audiobook.
What’s the estimated release timeline for these book adaptations? This information isn’t available yet in many cases, but it promises an air of anticipation as we await updates. For now, here are a few audiobooks I’ve relished from Audible (now also on Amazon Music Unlimited), and I eagerly look forward to seeing these stories unfold on either the big or small screen.
