80% of Americans Want to Diversify US Gold Reserves Into Bitcoin: Survey

A recent survey, conducted by the illustrious Nakamoto Project—an organization that champions the cause of Bitcoin with the fervor of a zealot—has unveiled a rather astonishing revelation: four out of five Americans, yes, you heard it right, wish to see a portion of the United States’ gold reserves transformed into the shimmering digital currency known as Bitcoin. 🪙✨

In a survey of 3,345 respondents, the question posed was as follows: “If the United States were to consider converting some of their gold reserves into Bitcoin, what percentage would you recommend?”

And lo! The majority, in their infinite wisdom, suggested a conversion ranging from a modest 1% to a rather audacious 30%. One can only imagine the fervent debates that must have ensued over such a weighty matter!

Ah, the Skepticism!

But wait! Project co-founder Troy Cross, with a furrowed brow, expressed his disbelief at the findings, suggesting that perhaps only the Bitcoin enthusiasts were surveyed. How quaint! 😏

“We were also taken aback. But alas, the results are the results. When presented with a slider to advise the US government on the ideal ratio of Bitcoin to gold, participants were loath to place that slider at a resounding 0% Bitcoin and 100% gold. Instead, they gravitated towards a comfortable 10% Bitcoin,” he elucidated.

It appears that as one ages, the enthusiasm for Bitcoin wanes, a revelation that is as predictable as the sunrise. The organization had previously discovered an inverse relationship between age and Bitcoin ownership—how delightfully ironic!

Satoshi Action Fund co-founder Dennis Porter, in a moment of candor, confessed his initial disbelief, adding:

“Americans, it seems, have little affection for gold, and when given the choice, most lean towards diversification.”

The survey, conducted online between February and mid-March, compensated participants for their time. Yet, the data collection company, Qualtrics, was tasked with ensuring that the demographic distribution mirrored that of the US Census—an admirable endeavor, indeed!

Interestingly, the study revealed that approximately 66% of respondents held a neutral-to-positive view of Donald Trump’s strategic Bitcoin reserve. Oh, the irony of politics and cryptocurrency! 🤔

Room for Diversification, Indeed!

The United States, in its grandiosity, boasts the world’s largest stockpile of gold reserves, a staggering 8,133 tons valued at over $830 billion at current market prices. Yet, Uncle Sam also possesses around 207,189 BTC, worth approximately $22 billion—less than 3% of its gold reserves. Clearly, there is ample room for diversification!

White House adviser Bo Hines has proposed a rather audacious strategy: the Treasury might begin purchasing Bitcoin using profits from its gold reserves. If this plan comes to fruition, it could lead to the acquisition of up to 1 million BTC over five years. How delightfully ambitious!

In a moment of prophetic insight, he referenced Senator Lummis’ Bitcoin Act of 2025, stating in March, “If we actually realize the gains on these [gold certificate holdings], that would be a budget-neutral way to acquire more Bitcoin.”

And let us not forget Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suggested in July that the nation’s gold reserves be matched with Bitcoin. Oh, the audacity of hope! 🌟
