As a long-time fan of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, I must admit that I’ve seen my fair share of unusual relationship dynamics. However, this new concept of “soft partnering” introduced by Corona on The Other Way has left me scratching my head.

The sixth season of “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” is proving to be enlightening, as I’m picking up new facts all the time. Not too long after being surprised by a fresh trend in this spinoff, viewers were introduced to Corona and Ingi, and their appearance brought about a term that was unfamiliar to me: soft-partnering. Frankly, it would be great if “90 Day Fiancé” stopped pushing for the success of “soft partnering”.
This TV show has given us many awkward couples who often break up after marriage (perhaps they should have separated earlier). Now we’re introduced to a character named Corona, who seems to have come up with a concept I’m not familiar with, which is getting its own storyline. We’ll see if it turns out to be a good relationship approach, but I think it’s a poor decision, even beyond its trendy image.
What Is Soft Partnering?
Soft-partnering, as showcased by Corona on “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,” essentially refers to her method of concealing certain unfavorable aspects of her life and character from Ingi. It also involves tolerating issues in their relationship that would typically elicit a stronger reaction from her if they weren’t being practiced.
Corona advised Ingi that being in Iceland would make it impossible for Ingi not to see who Ingi truly is, as Ingi has been hiding certain aspects of herself up until now. It seems that reality will set in now that they are together.
Why Corona’s Method Feels Like The Wrong Approach To A Relationship
Corona’s approach to “soft-partnering” seems off track, as it sets the foundation of a relationship on deceit and intentionally hidden truths. This implies that Corona is admitting that Ingi might not wish to engage in a long-term relationship if Corona was acting naturally. Thus, Corona is trying to justify the deception by suggesting they’ll become more compatible over time as they reveal their flaws and imperfections.
Why 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’s James And Metalia Have Me Suspecting They Aren’t Really Moving To Indonesia
I’m not sold on this storyline.
It seems unlikely that Corona would exhibit the kind of fiery temper tantrums like Angela Deem traveling to Nigeria to damage Michael Ilesanmi’s vehicle. Consequently, she shouldn’t be too surprised if her genuine anger is displayed on this show. While it’s natural to want to make a good impression at the beginning of a relationship, moving to another country to live together should indicate a certain degree of transparency and honesty.
In simpler terms, I think soft-partnering slows down the development of a relationship. It appears that Ingi thought he knew Corona well, but now it seems he might need to learn more about her true self if they want their relationship to advance. This discovery could definitely make anyone question the state of their relationship.
To be fair, we haven’t witnessed how Corona and Ingi’s story unfolds, but it’s already proving to be less troublesome than my ongoing issues with James and Meitalia. There’s a possibility they could have the healthiest relationship in the 90 Day Fiancé series yet, and “soft partnering” might become the latest trend in relationship advice. I’m not overly hopeful about this, but there’s still a slim chance it might happen!
