As a longtime fan of 90 Day Fiancé and someone who’s been through more than a few relationships myself, I have to say that this week’s episode of The Other Way was a rollercoaster ride. James and Meitalia Solis, a couple I’ve had my doubts about from the get-go, finally had some honest conversations, which is more than most couples on this show manage.
Heed this note, fellow enthusiast! Despite my criticisms last week concerning the wedding episode of James and Meitalia Solis due to their significant issues as a couple on “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,” this week’s installment swiftly resumed the drama. Remarkably, they had an open dialogue about their personal aspirations, and surprisingly, Meitalia countered James’ suggestion of returning to the United States with a demand of her own.
In the case of some participants on the reality show “90 Day Fiancé,” it seemed unlikely that living in Indonesia was their ultimate goal. So, it was heartening to witness Meitalia standing up for herself. For those who might have missed this, here’s what she requested and why I believe her demand is reasonable considering all she is leaving behind in Indonesia.
Meitalia Finally Revealed Her Terms For Returning To The United States
In their recent chat, James conveyed to Meitalia that going back to the United States was essentially unavoidable, but there might be a time when they could revisit Indonesia. However, to make this happen, they would need to devise a concrete strategy. With their savings dwindling after the wedding and no substantial income from banana chips, it wasn’t a viable long-term plan for them.
Meitalia appeared ready to accept the prospect of returning to the United States, but she had a condition before making such a significant move. What she asked was for James to sponsor a visa for her sister, Angel, enabling her to pay a visit. If Meitalia were to depart from Indonesia, it was essential for her that at least one person dear to her could drop by occasionally.
James Was Furious, But I Think The Trade-Off Is Completely Fair
James was deeply upset by the news regarding Angel, and his frustration led him to tears. Given the sensational gossip his sister-in-law Meitalia had spread about him, I can sympathize with his feelings. However, it’s worth noting that James has a tendency to surprise Angel with information without warning. Under such circumstances, it seems only fair that he should be prepared to make concessions in order for his wife to return home.
To me, it seems like a perfectly balanced exchange. James isn’t sure about having kids, while Meitalia feels lonely in the U.S. Having the opportunity to visit family more frequently than every three years seems like an attractive prospect, and perhaps they should explore the option of acquiring another vehicle so she can get out and drive instead of being confined to the house all day. I can empathize with her preference for motorbiking around Indonesia compared to that situation.
On Monday, November 11th, at 8:00 p.m. ET on TLC, let’s find out if James consents to the terms as “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” unfolds. I can’t wait to see whether he sticks to this plan or we discover in the finale that it was just an idea and not reality should they revisit home.
