The increased user activity and popularity on the Solana blockchain, which focuses on smart contracts, have put a heavy strain on its system. Some users contend that this issue has persisted since the beginning and thus choose to remain with the service.
The founders assure customers that the developers have begun working on resolving the issue.
Andre Cronje, co-founder of Fantom, expressed in a recent post on X that Solana’s network congestion isn’t a negative indication, but rather a normal hurdle that needs to be addressed.
“There are many comments along the lines of ‘I told you so’ regarding Solana, as the platform is experiencing high demand for block space that requires optimization of certain bottlenecks – a challenge that is part of the engineering process rather than being a problem with consensus or any essential component.”

Last week, over 70% of non-voting transactions on Solana encountered issues and failed. Solana’s co-founder, Raj Gokal, acknowledged this problem and assured users that the development team was working diligently to find a solution.

Anatoly Yakovenko, one of Solana’s co-founders, indicated that handling large numbers of transactions could pose a challenge for their system, and suggested occasional pauses in trading to prevent potential system malfunctions down the line.
Dealing with congestion issues caused by bugs is far more frustrating than experiencing total liveness failures. In the case of liveness failure, once the problem is identified, it can be addressed and fixed, allowing the process to continue uninterrupted. However, when dealing with congestion bugs, the situation is much more complex. The release and testing pipeline must be completed in full before the issue can be resolved, making it difficult to deliver updates quickly. Despite heavy traffic for the project, the price of SOL has risen from its low of $168.07 to currently stand at $178.01.
