Montenegrin court approves Do Kwon’s extradition once again

After being annulled last week, the Montenegran court has advanced once more with the extradition process for Do Kwon.

Based on South Korean news sources, the decision regarding the extradition of Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, to the United States is currently with Justice Minister Andrej Milovic. Milovic’s past comments indicate a probable inclination towards granting the extradition request.

The High Court in Podgorica ruled that the legal conditions for extraditing Do Kwon to both South Korea and the US have been fulfilled. Although Kwon may choose to appeal, the minister’s position and the court’s decision increase the probability of his extradition to the United States.

Recently, Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs, went missing just before the Terra and Luna cryptocurrencies suffered a massive crash in April 2022. It was revealed last week that the SEC has charged both Do Kwon and Terraform Labs with misleading investors regarding the stability of UST.

In March 2023, a forged passport led to the apprehension of Do Kwon in Montenegro. After serving a four-month term in prison, he was subsequently moved to a facility for foreign detainees.

On April 5, the Supreme Court of Montenego reversed its previous ruling and started the extradition process for Do Kwon back to South Korea anew.
