Nvidia and FPT Collaborate on $200M AI Plant in Vietnam

Nvidia, a global pioneer in semiconductor production, and the Vietnamese IT company have announced their collaboration. They plan to invest and build a $200 million AI facility in Vietnam together.

On April 23rd, companies announced in a combined statement their objective of creating a centralized platform in Vietnam for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. Key components of this endeavor encompass: provision of advanced GPU infrastructure, offering AI-related products, assembling IT experts, and amassing expertise on relevant topics to cater to regional customers.

An “AI manufacturing hub” operated by FPT with Nvidia’s advanced technology support, acting as an autonomous cloud platform, is to be established. This venture will incorporate Nvidia’s latest H100 Tensor Core GPUs, alongside their AI business applications and frameworks.

FPT aims to establish Vietnam as a global center for artificial intelligence and convert the country into an AI-focused nation, all while accelerating the implementation of AI technologies in neighboring countries such as Korea and Japan.

Based on the words of Keith Strier, Nvidia’s global AI vice president, AI holds the capability to enrich people’s lives and boost the economic power of all countries. This is achieved through inspiring advancements in various sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental management.

FPT’s corporate clients will receive comprehensive AI solutions, including generative AI services and cloud-based GPU capabilities, from the factory, enabling more effective and efficient AI application usage.

Nvidia’s efforts will be incorporated into the teaching methods of colleges and high schools across the country, including training programs, laboratory sessions, and academic curricula. As stated in the announcement, this collaboration aims to impact at least 30,000 students within the next year.

In December 2023, Nvidia’s CEO announced plans to expand partnerships in Vietnam to recruit local talent for the artificial intelligence industry. Previously, in September 2023, significant US-Vietnam AI collaborations worth billions of dollars focused on strengthening the semiconductor supply chain relationship.

At the event, representatives from notable tech companies specializing in artificial intelligence, including Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google, were in attendance.
