Trump is in talks to speak at Bitcoin 2024 in July: report

As a researcher with a background in technology and politics, I find Trump’s growing interest in the crypto community intriguing. The potential speaking engagement at the Bitcoin 2024 convention is a significant move, especially given the event’s reputation as the largest Bitcoin event of the year.

As the 2024 US election approaches within a few months, former President Trump aims to secure an influential demographic: the cryptocurrency sector.

Based on Axios’ report, Trump is reportedly holding discussions for a potential appearance at the Bitcoin Convention in 2024. This event is anticipated to be held from July 25th to 27th, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Axios reported this on Monday, citing two sources familiar with the development.

Trump and his growing Bitcoin, crypto-friendly stance

The Bitcoin Magazine’s Bitcoin 2024 conference is the most significant Bitcoin event of the year, happening immediately following the conclusion of the Republican National Convention. Remarkably, El Salvador unveiled its intention to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender during the Bitcoin 2020 gathering in Miami.

If this occurrence transpires, Trump will have an opportunity to express his views on Bitcoin publicly and significantly.

Trump’s announcement about speaking at this year’s Bitcoin event is noteworthy since there’s growing belief within the crypto community that he holds a favorable stance towards cryptocurrencies. Prior to his support of digital currencies, the crypto industry often viewed Biden’s administration as less than ideal for their growth.

Recently, Trump held a meeting with major Bitcoin miners in the United States. Subsequently, he expressed his view that the remaining production of Bitcoin ought to take place within the country after this encounter.

At a recent gathering, Trump declared, “I intend to put an end to Biden’s cryptocurrency conflict. The future of crypto and Bitcoin will be shaped right here in America.”

Crypto donations for Trump’s campaign

As a crypto investor, I’ve noticed a favorable attitude towards cryptocurrencies from Donald Trump during his recent political campaigns. This stance has endeared him to the crypto industry, resulting in on-chain contributions to his Republican campaign being one of the consequences.

Despite the fact that Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, founders of Gemini crypto exchange, have recently donated $2 million, the precise amount given in cryptocurrency remains undisclosed at this time.

Before the Winklevosses made their crypto donation, Trump’s campaign had received approximately $60,000 worth of cryptocurrency contributions as indicated by the Data from Breadcrumbs.

As a data analyst, I’ve calculated that approximately $1,749,200 worth of donations have been recorded on the blockchain up to now. However, there are additional contributions made off-chain through cryptocurrency exchanges that will soon be included in the total. Therefore, the final amount could be even greater than currently reported.
