Jennie Garth Remembers Shannen Doherty as “One of the Strongest People I Have Ever Known”

As a fan who grew up watching “Beverly Hills, 90210,” I was deeply saddened to hear of Shannen Doherty‘s passing. Her portrayal of Brenda Walsh on the iconic series left an indelible mark on my childhood and shaped my love for television. When I heard that Jennie Garth, one of her former co-stars, shared a heartfelt tribute to Shannen, I couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of loss.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Shanzen Doherty’s passing, and as one of her former co-stars on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” I wanted to take a moment to pay my respects.

Garth shared an old photo of them dating back to the late 1990s, possibly taken during their acting stint on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

With the shared image, Garth expressed, “I’m deeply mourning the passing of my dear friend Shanzen, who I’ve always admired for her incredible strength. Our bond was genuine and heartfelt.”

Garth once mentioned in interviews, including on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” in 2019, that she had disagreements with Doherty, which they both acknowledged publicly. In one instance, they had a heated argument that escalated so much that they took it outside, but it never resulted in physical violence. They eventually made up and stayed friends.

I’ve had my fair share of battles with her, but those moments didn’t define the genuine connection we shared. She was fearless, fiery, tenacious, and incredibly loving and giving. Her loss leaves a deep void in my heart, one that I will forever keep filled with respect and admiration for her. My heart goes out to her family, Bowie, and all those who cherished her deeply. 😢

I just mentioned that Doherty’s beloved pooch, Bowie, was with her when she passed away in that previous statement.

Doherty died Saturday at age 53 after a long battle with cancer.

Formally castmates like Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Carol Potter, Brian Austin Green from “Beverly Hills, 90210” and Alyssa Milano of “Charmed,” paid their respects to Doherty.
