As a longtime fan of country music and Reba McEntire’s incredible talent, I’m thrilled to hear that she’s returning to television with a new sitcom on NBC. Now, some folks might be disappointed to learn that it’s not exactly a reboot of her old show “Reba.” But let me tell you something, as someone who grew up watching Reba every week, this news still brings a warm feeling in my heart.
McEntire and Peterman had worked together on the WB and CW sitcom for six years. After that, they went on to collaborate on Lifetime’s “Reba McEntire’s The Hammer.” They also appeared in “Young Sheldon” and “Baby Daddy.” Now, they are teaming up for “Happy’s Place,” a project that was inevitable according to Peterman. He made this statement during a Television Critics Association panel (as reported by ET).
The connection between us is naturally easy, as if we’re still riding bikes together. Our friendship didn’t end with the show; instead, it has continued ever since.
Despite not collaborating frequently since their show “Reba,” it’s evident that their friendship has remained strong. When the opportunity arose to create a new sitcom with the “Reba” crew, it was only natural for Peterman to join in. It’s going to be a treat to watch them on screen together once more. In “Happy’s Place,” McEntire portrays Bobbie, who unexpectedly inherits her father’s bar and ends up managing it with her hitherto unknown half-sister. Peterman is cast as the bartender in this establishment.
Melissa Peterman previously spoke openly about teaming up with Reba McEntire and the executives behind “Happy’s Place,” expressing her joy at working with such a wonderful group of people not just once, but twice. Although talks about reviving “Reba” didn’t progress, it appears that “Happy’s Place” will have a similar feel to the early 2000s sitcom.
