BAPE and Medicom Toy Launch "Maneki-neko" and "Daruka" BE@RBRICK Set

As a long-time collector and avid gamer with a soft spot for unique and limited-edition merchandise, I can’t help but get excited about this latest collaboration between A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and Medicom Toy. The “Maneki-neko” and “Daruma” BE@RBRICK set is not only visually stunning but also deeply rooted in Japanese culture and tradition, which adds an extra layer of intrigue for me.

Partnership between A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and Medicom Toy has resulted in the production of fresh BE@RBRICK design concepts.

These collectibles are referred to as “Maneki-neko” and “Daruma,” inspired by popular Japanese lucky charms. The assortment consists of four pieces in two distinct sizes: 100% and 400%. The “Maneki-neko” figurines have a black finish, while the “Daruma” ones are white. Both designs bear BAPE’s distinctive CAMO pattern.

In the first design, BAPE’s iconic Ape Head image is depicted on the elbows and knees. Contrastingly, the second figure incorporates the Ape Head symbol within its right eye. Following Japanese custom, a wish is granted when the left eye is filled with a drawing.

In a customized container bearing the “Daigan Jyosei” label in elegant kanji script, you will find the complete collection of four BE@RBRICKS. The standard-sized figures stand around 7 centimeters high, while their larger counterparts, at 400% the size, reach approximately 28 centimeters in height.

The new BAPE toy collection continues from their previous BE@RBRICK series, called READYMADE, which included 100% and 1000% variations that came with detachable ghillie suits.

As a passionate gamer and collector, I’m thrilled to share that the long-awaited BAPE x Medicom Toy collaboration is finally dropping this coming Saturday, July 20! You can get your hands on the exclusive “Maneki-neko” and “Daruma” set at BAPE’s London store located on Conduit Street or conveniently online.
