As a long-time comedy enthusiast and avid gamer, I can’t help but be fascinated by the unique quirks and idiosyncrasies of some of our most beloved comedians. Two such figures who come to mind are Eddie Murphy and Seth Rogen, both of whom possess laughs that have become as iconic as their comedy itself.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but notice how iconic the laughter of comedians is in pop culture. Take Eddie Murphy and Seth Rogen for instance, their genuine chuckles have been mimicked, parodied, and imitated since the beginning of their careers. It’s become such a trend that Eddie even made his laugh the punchline, dropping it altogether. For Seth Rogen, this irony is both amusing and unsettling.
I recently had a conversation with Seth Rogen about his new Amazon Prime series, “Sausage Party: Foodtopia.” When I shared the news that Eddie Murphy had been holding back his genuine laughter intentionally for years, Rogen not only found this idea unsettling but also added his own amusing perspective on it.
As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: It’s just like watching a comedian rob themselves of their own laughter. That’s the kind of storyline you’d expect in an underwater fantasy like The Little Mermaid or even a heartwarming Pixar film. But man, it’s truly disheartening when it happens in real life.
Imagining Ursula stealing Eddie Murphy’s laughter might be an unsettling thought. Fortunately, this hasn’t affected Murphy negatively at all. Critics are thrilled about his latest Netflix production, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” and our interviews with the cast revealed that Murphy remains just as funny as before. Furthermore, during my conversation with Seth Rogen, Murphy shared some valuable advice from one accomplished comedian to another regarding following in the footsteps of infectious laughter.
Seth, you’ve done everything right. Keep doing that laugh. Look how far it’s gotten you.

Eddie Murphy’s praise for Seth Rogen is both an honor for him, given his deep connection to the comedian’s movies and stand-up act, and sound advice. The saying “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” rings true for Rogen. He has a new show, “The Studio,” on Apple TV+, stars in Aziz Ansari’s comedy film “Good Fortune,” and is known for producing some of the funniest movies ever made. The laughter has been kind to him throughout his career, as evidenced by his endearing reaction to Murphy’s recognition.
