As a seasoned gamer and collector with a soft spot for nostalgia, I can’t help but be utterly charmed by Spinnaker’s latest limited-edition watch collection in honor of SpongeBob SquarePants’ 25th anniversary. The combination of my two greatest passions – gaming and horology – has me feeling like a kid in a candy store!
To mark the 25-year milestone of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series, British watch manufacturer Spinnaker has introduced a restricted edition watch line evoking maritime memories.
Featuring the popular characters Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs as the watch faces, this collection is inspired by Spinnaker’s Hass Automatic model. Each dial has its unique color scheme: sunny yellow and aqua for Spongebob, bright pink and purple for Patrick, cool mint green and brown for Squidward, and a delightful blend of pink and light blue for Mr. Krabs.
The dials have a complex design with layers and glow-in-the-dark markings embedded in their details, characters, pointers, and numbers. An inscription from Spongebob Squarepants, “You never truly appreciate the worth of a moment till it transforms into a memory,” is engraved on the dial’s edge.
With a case width of 43mm, these models come equipped with two-tone rotating bezel. The robust case, made from marine-grade 316L stainless steel, can endure pressure up to 30 ATM underwater, an ideal feature considering its maritime theme inspired by the beloved character, SpongeBob SquarePants. Brand logos of both SpongeBob and Spinnaker grace the steel caseback as a testament to their partnership.
As a seasoned collector of limited edition watches, I’ve come across many unique and intriguing timepieces in my journey. The latest addition to my collection that has truly piqued my interest is the SP-5138 Hass Automatic SpongeBob SquarePants 25th Limited Edition.
