Controversial Call of Duty concept copies Battlefield Hardline

Controversial Call of Duty concept copies Battlefield Hardline

As a long-time gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen the evolution of video games and the way they reflect our society. The depiction of police in video games has always been a complex issue, but recent events have brought renewed scrutiny to this topic.

The portrayal of law enforcement in video games like Grand Theft Auto (GTA) has long been a contentious issue. However, following the tragic death of George Floyd and the surge of the Black Lives Matter movement, this representation is sure to face even greater scrutiny. It’s expected that Rockstar Games will reconsider how they depict police in GTA 6. Meanwhile, the controversial game Unrecorded has recently generated negative headlines for its divisive bodycam feature.

As an avid gamer, I can’t deny the undeniable dominance of Call of Duty in the shooter genre. Regardless of the era we explore – from the trenches of World War II to futuristic battles and even the impending Gulf War – this series has consistently been rooted in military themes.

As a big fan of the Call of Duty series, I’ve often pondered about the appeal of a cop-focused game within the franchise. With most Call of Duty titles offering the army grunt experience, the concept of a police-themed CoD has been proposed before. Recently on Reddit, someone suggested the name “Call of Duty: Police Warfare.” However, not everyone is thrilled about this idea. Some fans are skeptical and think that Call of Duty doesn’t need to veer off in this direction.

The original post expresses that the author is exhausted from the endless conflict-laden situations and requests Activision to explore new ideas. A proposed concept involves law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI or LAPD, working together to apprehend the fresh leader of the Las Almas criminal organization dealing with trafficking.

As a longtime fan of Call of Duty, I’ve seen my fair share of epic battles and massive wars in the series. But with Valeria’s recent return in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 5, I can’t help but feel that something new and exciting is brewing in the CoDverse. The suggestion that all these events could be connected to Makarov is intriguing, to say the least.

In 2024, some people harbored reservations and had complex emotions towards the police. With such sentiments, was it wise to develop a game featuring white supremacist groups collaborating with Las Almas? A skeptic commented, “Instead of creating a game where players hunt down white supremacist groups working with Las Almas, I suspect Activision/Microsoft would decline a cop game that involves shooting other law enforcement officers.”

In response to the previous comments, one person quipped, “In our current polarized political environment, suggesting a Team Deathmatch pitting Cops against Gang members seems like an unfortunate idea, doesn’t it?” Another agreed, “That wouldn’t fly in today’s society.” While some believe it could potentially succeed with careful execution, the challenge lies in the fast-paced and superficial context of modern Call of Duty games.

Previously, other game developers like DICE with Battlefield Hardline in 2015 and creators of Police Quest and Ready or Not in 2021, have explored the police theme in video games. So, while a “Cops Duty” game might be on some gamers’ wish lists, it’s uncertain if such a title is under development.
