EssilorLuxottica to Acquire Supreme from VF Corporation
VF Corporation is preparing to transfer ownership of Supreme, its popular streetwear brand, to EssilorLuxottica, the world-leading company in eyewear production.
Currently, EssilorLuxottica and the companies have reached a deal: EssilorLuxottica will acquire Supreme for a cash payment of $1.5 billion USD. Prior to this, VF Corporation had purchased the brand in 2020 for $2.1 billion USD.
As a seasoned business observer with a deep appreciation for the fashion industry, I firmly believe that Supreme’s founder James Jebbie is making a wise decision by staying involved in the development of his iconic brand under the new ownership of EssilorLuxottica.
The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
Dior Announces Lewis Hamilton as Brand Ambassador and Guest Designer of New Lifestyle Capsule
Dior has announced that Lewis Hamilton, the renowned Formula One racing driver, will join their team as a brand ambassador. Furthermore, Hamilton will serve as the guest designer for a fresh lifestyle collection.
Known friend and collaborator of Dior’s menswear creative director Kim Jones, Hamilton, has contributed to the development of a capsule collection for the prestigious brand. The collection’s style is a reflection of both Hamilton’s bold flair and Dior’s refined heritage. This week, images showcasing the collection were unveiled, highlighting its fusion of streetwear trends and outdoor culture influences.
Perfect for the winter season, Dior’s collaborative collection with Lewis Hamilton will be available for purchase both in stores and online starting October 17th.
Meta Reportedly Seeking Stake in Eyewear Conglomerate EssilorLuxottica
As someone who has been following the business world for years, I’ve noticed that EssilorLuxottica is a name that frequently pops up in headlines. And this week, it’s making waves once again with reports of Meta, the social media giant, looking to invest in this global leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of eyewear.
At present, the tech firm is in discussions to acquire a 5% share in EssilorLuxottica, which would make it a part-owner of Supreme. However, the outcome of this potential transaction is yet to be decided.
Based on reports in The Wall Street Journal, Meta is considering purchasing a smaller share of the eyeglasses company to expand upon the achievement of its Ray-Ban smart glasses collaboration.
Coperni To Hold Its SS25 Show at Disneyland Paris
As a fashion enthusiast who has attended numerous fashion weeks both in Paris and other major cities, I must admit that this year’s Paris Fashion Week for menswear left me feeling rather underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, there were some standout collections, but the overall energy just didn’t seem to be as electric as it has been in the past.
At Disneyland, Coperni intends to display the contemporary essence of femininity. This globally recognized theme park offers an ideal venue to highlight the excitement, elegance, and gentleness of princesses and strong women. The SS25 show is also a tribute to our childhood memories and the enchantment of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Stay tuned for updates on Coperni’s PFW SS25 show at Disneyland Paris on October 1.
UNDEFEATED Opens Sports Center and Chapter Store in China’s Aranya
UNDEFEATED is broadening its physical presence in China by launching a new sports center and retail outlet for its merchandise.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the latest gaming hub I discovered is situated in a charming resort town, specifically in Qinhuangdao. While there are retail stores for shopping sprees, what truly sets this place apart is its state-of-the-art sports facility. Inside, you’ll find a basketball court for hoops fans like me, a refreshing swimming pool to cool off after intense gaming sessions, an training area to hone skills, and even a martial arts combat room for those seeking a more physical challenge!
Architect Liu Xiangbo from Link Architects explained, “Our design approach simplifies the store’s structure, preserving its stability, yet infuses athletic influences in every aspect.” Liu worked in collaboration with architects Liu Kenan and Atelier XÜK on this project.
The unbeaten Sports Center and Chapter Shop is located at No. 7-5, Binhe Commercial Street, on Binhai New Road (Phase IX), in Changli County of Qinhuangdao City.
adidas and MLS Release Archive Collection Inspired by Classic Soccer Aesthetics
Adidas continues to follow the popular trend of summer soccer kits with a new collaboration. They’ve teamed up with Major League Soccer to release an archival collection.
In simpler terms, this retro collection looks back to classic styles from various MLS teams for their jerseys, jackets, and Gazelle shoes. This unique collaboration includes Inter Miami CF, LA Galaxy, LAFC, Portland Timbers, and Sporting Kansas City.
“Rachel Hoagland, MLS’s Senior Vice President of consumer products, expressed her enthusiasm: ‘Our fans have always loved third jerseys, and we’re thrilled to debut the first installment of the adidas x MLS Archive Collection. This innovative line blends American soccer history with contemporary design, reflecting the League’s dedication to acknowledging the distinct backgrounds of our clubs.'”
The adidas x MLS Archive Collection is available now on MLS’ website and MLS club retail locations.
