As a dedicated fan of Jordan Brand and Parisian culture, I’m thrilled to witness Michael Jordan’s connection to the City of Love being celebrated through these stunning sneaker drops. Having experienced the magic of Paris myself, I can’t help but be swept up in the nostalgia and romance that these releases evoke.
In the spirit of Michael Jordan’s legendary times in Paris during the late ’90s, Jordan Brand pays homage to the City of Love with three special releases. With the 2024 Olympic Games set to begin in Paris, this esteemed sneaker brand celebrates the French capital by unveiling the Air Jordan 4 Retro Wet Cement and Women’s Air Jordan 6 Retro Pearl, accompanied by a stylish clothing collection. By bridging the gaps between sports and fashion, these iconic shoe designs draw inspiration from Paris, crafting an enchanting tale of love and appreciation for its people and charm.
Since the McDonald’s Championship in 1997, Jordan has commemorated this significant city connection through the understated color schemes of the AJ 4 Wet Cement and AJ 6 Retro Pearl sneakers. The AJ 4 model, inspired by Parisian culture, is crafted with a blend of premium materials and features a titanium dioxide finish for a contemporary update. Gray tones on the former sneaker symbolically represent the Parisian cobblestone streets. In contrast, the AJ 6 Retro Pearl continues to honor the French city’s essence through its worn Pure Platinum suede upper, pearl accents, and anodized piping – reflective of Parisian café chairs and the iconic Pont de Alexandre III bridge.
Using the Parisian influence, Jordan Brand showcases two new sneaker releases and a coordinating clothing line. This collection reflects how Parisian fashion, art, sports, and dance have inspired Jordan Brand. In the FA 2024 capsule, this is evident through the selection of tops, shorts, denim pieces, and knitwear. All items display Jordan’s branding and feature imagery reminiscent of Michael Jordan’s famous visit to the Eiffel Tower in 1997.
During the opening weekend of the 2024 Paris Olympics, two new Air Jordan releases are scheduled. The Air Jordan 4 Retro Wet Cement will be available on July 27 for $225 USD, while the Women’s Air Jordan 6 Reto Pearl drops on August 6, exclusively through the SNKRS app. Meanwhile, the FA 2024 collection is already accessible on the Nike online store.
