As a longtime Marvel fan and avid gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I hear the latest news about the upcoming Fantastic Four film. The reveal of the title “Fantastic Four: First Steps” during Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con panel was just the icing on the cake!
Marvel‘s forthcoming Fantastic Four film has revealed its official title.
At San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, Marvel Studios unveiled the title of their upcoming movie as “Fantastic Four: Beginnings” during an eagerly awaited panel. Moreover, it was revealed that Michael Giacchino, a multiple award-winning composer known for his work on “Up,” would be scoring the film.
On July 25, 2025, Matt Shakman (“WandaVision” director) will unveil a fresh adaptation of the iconic Marvel team that debuted in comics back in 1961. The film boasts an impressive cast including Pedro Pascal (as Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (as Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (as Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (as The Thing).
After Disney took over Fox, the team became eligible to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’ve been a huge fan of comic books since I was a kid, and the Fantastic Four has always held a special place in my heart. So when Pascal shared the first cast photo of the new film earlier this week, I couldn’t contain my excitement! The caption “Our first mission” only added to my anticipation for this upcoming project. As someone who grew up reading the comics and watching various adaptations over the years, I can’t wait to see how this new take on the Fantastic Four unfolds on the big screen.
John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser are additionally in the cast. The script was written by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, with contributions from WandaVision’s Peter Cameron.
In the late 1990s, before its release, a Roger Corman-produced Fantastic Four film remained unseen. Then, in 2005, director Tim Story brought the superhero team to life with a movie featuring Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, and Michael Chiklis as the main characters. The film was commercially successful enough for a 2007 sequel, but it didn’t win over critics and has a low approval rating of 28% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The team was regrouped in 2015 for Josh Trank’s movie with Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell in the leading roles. However, this production didn’t do as well as the 2005 film. It generated disappointing box office revenue and received a poor 9% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
