As a devoted fan of Keanu Reeves, I can’t help but be moved by his heartfelt tribute to his mother during his recent San Diego Comic-Con appearance. His genuine affection for her was on full display as he read aloud the dedication in his new comic book series “BRZRKR,” which he co-authored with China Miéville.

People already adore Keanu Reeves greatly, but he won them over even more with a heartfelt homage to his mother during a speech at the San Diego Comic-Con.

At the renowned Hall H during a panel discourse, he shared information about his innovative comic book series BRZRKR. This series is set to grow with Netflix’s plans of creating an anime series and a feature film. The event featured Mattson Tomlin, who was present as a screenwriter for the movie and announced as the project leader for the upcoming anime.

Besides the expected streaming projects, the comic book series BRZRKR has also been transformed into a 353-page novel named The Book of Elsewhere, which was released this month.

The novel, a collaborative work between acclaimed British writer China Miéville and an unnamed author, tells the story of an immortal assassin on a quest to uncover his 80,000-year-old past, traveling through time and space. In the beginning of “The Book of Elsewhere,” the authors affectionately dedicate this book to their mothers.

On stage, Reeves casually leafed through the book before pausing to share the heartfelt dedication at its beginning: “A heartfelt tribute to our mothers – for the gift of life, the art of storytelling, and the boundless love they give us.” The crowd responded with soft “aws” and enthusiastic applause.

At Comic-Con, the actor received the Inkpot Award from SDCC in recognition of his impact on art and popular culture. Additionally, during the panel, Tomlin announced that he had recently submitted the final draft for the Netflix project “BRZRKR.”

Reeves, known for his deep affection towards his mother, has always had her unwavering love and encouragement throughout his professional journey. At the 2020 Oscars, Patricia Taylor, a costume designer, proudly accompanied her son on the red carpet. He went above and beyond by buying her a house in Los Angeles before securing one for himself.

The Book of Elsewhere, published by Boom! Studios, hit shelves July 23.
